Regional Accents On Tv.

Being stuck indoors a lot lately tv gets a lot of attention, instead of using 'posh' talk they have switched to accents such as South Yorkshire and the Geordie is this some suttle sales technique with a hidden message, such as the now banned hidden in the music ones used by supermarkets.
Or are we in the north the only second hand car buyers?

I think regional accents started to appear more about 10-15 years ago, at one time everyone on the tv/radio all spoke the same, I personally think its a lot better now, I hate hearing someone from eg up north talking posh, there's nothing wrong with accents.

One in particular comes to mind, Sean Beans charity adverts just the voice, now who could not be touched by such dulcid tones? What about Cilit Bang or that dreaded windows advert pure trash, June whitfield in the afternoon trying to sell useless insurance to geriatrics like me.:D

Having just enjoyed a long maternity leave, the daytime ads really irritate me, the're all loans, personal injury or life insurance. What I did notice was how many of the products have the same "celebs" doing the voice overs, and its the ones with the regional accents doing a lot of them.

They must think we will be more likely to buy from a fellow 'comfort zone' member, high pressure sales talk and scrougers. I will bet my false teeth Sean Bean get's paid handsomly for his feeble efforts. That Geordie accent is diabolical it's phoney, a true Geordie would not be undrstood on any other network other than Newcastle and surrounding areas. How are you everything ok grego?;)
