tax on chewing gum

What a good idea... I personally can not stand the stuff, not to mention all the mess some people leave behind with it... ( Ice is good for getting it off clothes )

As discussed before Magpie .. not going to make one iota of difference, just like extra tax on cigarettes doesn't. Heavier fines for dropping maybe, but gotta' catch the litter lout first.

Only one way .. complete ban as in Singapore, which was mainly brought in because chewers were discarding on the door frames of their Metro, and affecting the working.

Like a chew meself, but wouldn't dream of dropping on the floor .. dirty b*ggers !! Feel it has become some sort of cult or fashion to do this :(

I dont think taxing the chewing gum would make the slightest bit of difference but i do think that if there were more places to discard your chewing gum then people would like i said in another thread in preston city center i have seen boards on lamp posts for you to stick your gum to and then the boards just get replaced or cleaned if there were alot more of these about they would be used i think and it would save money on the street cleaning!

No thanks, I don't throw my chewing gum anywhere but the bin, don't want to pay more because some people couldn't think twice before throwing it places. They should be fined or given community work (removing the damn stuff) :D

Voted No. I think we are already taxed to the hilt in this country.

Can't vote either way afraid .. due to my opinion. Should have been another option of 'ban altogether'.

A disgusting habit popularised by our cousins accross the pond. Spitting it out and sticking it under seats is a disgusting 'side' effect of the habbit, and cantaminates other people. It is full of body fluids of the last host and can spread aids etc if children inadvertantly swallow it.
