Time To Ban Firework Sales????
Just been watching a report on the news of someone in a halloween mask throwing a firework into a shop. Luckily there were no deaths but it could so easily have been a different story. Is it time firework sales to the general public were stopped? Or am I over reacting? It just makes me shudder to think that things could have been much worse!!!

Re: Time To Ban Firework Sales????
Not at all. Time to fight crime with Fireworks more like. Lets not be killjoy's now =)

Re: Time To Ban Firework Sales????
They are more restricted than they use to be which just leads to more 'illegal' firworks being sold.
Better to catch the culprit and insert a banger in his/her rectum, light the touchpaper and stand back. They won't do it again. |

BBC NEWS | England | Manchester | Baby hurt by firework lit in shop
Is it that one bernie. That is awful. Its classed as an 'industrial' one with 200 rockets. Why do you need one like that to set off in your back garden. Them are the ones for displays. That fella who set it off is a stupid idiot. He needs his head looking at. |
Re: Time To Ban Firework Sales????
Yes that's the one, these idiots don't contemplate what could happen!!

If you ask me, Firework underage sales are just as dangerous as alcohol sales. I do think Fireworks should be sold strictly to over 21's only, with the same rules applying.. fines for selling/buying underage, and buying for people underage. |
Re: Time To Ban Firework Sales????
Really think these sort of fireworks should only be sold for organised displays. They are far to dangerous for general sale IMO.

Re: Time To Ban Firework Sales????
Existing law prevents their sale to under 18s, but some adults are just as stupid in misusing them. Two nights ago a family with 2 teenage children in a small silver car parked next to the (soon to be demolished) football changing hut near my home. For about 30 minutes thet let off fireworks on the steps of the hut and near their car (stupid!!!), and the girl chased her brother on the road throwing fireworks at him. Presumably their parents could see no harm in this behaviour
Their fireworks were endangering not only themselves but the livestock in the allottments right next to them - If a fire had been caused I would have sympathy ......with the chickens!!!!! |
Re: Time To Ban Firework Sales????
If their children had been hurt it would have been their fault. I sometimes wonder about morons like this, why do they have kids if they aren't going to protect them from danger? In fact by watching things like this they are leading them into it!!!!!

Re: Time To Ban Firework Sales????
I was hoping that one would land on their car bonnet - evil aren't I? :D

Re: Time To Ban Firework Sales????
Hello!, I for one wouldn't be bothered if they was banned from general sale to members of pubic.
For my money I think professionally organized displays are much better, more people, better safety, a bonfire, and some parkin if available too. What more can you ask for? |
Re: Time To Ban Firework Sales????
I have said it in other threads. Fire works should be BANNED full stop. Nasty, horrible DANGEROUS things.
|
Re: Time To Ban Firework Sales????
i like the organised displays & do agree they should not be on sale all year round ..i think 1 week before is bad enough, so will enjoy watching them from my back door as usual this year.
|
Re: Time To Ban Firework Sales????
I don't see why those huge things are sold to the general public at all. That certainly should not be allowed. But as for age - well some adults have proved they are as dangerous with fireworks as any child.
|
Re: Time To Ban Firework Sales????
fire works have been around for years, its the manufacturers who should be banned from making this stupid loud bangers, and stupid people also, but it will never happen, the goverment are probably making too much money from them, maybe the silly culprits will do us all a favour and blow thier bloody hands off!!

Re: Time To Ban Firework Sales????
There was a lot of them going off round this area last night i though i had got my dates wrong:confused:
|
Re: Time To Ban Firework Sales????
I really wish fireworks could only be allowed at organised displays and on one night of the year only - maybe then my poor dog wouldn't be driven mad by the damn things night after night. Tried tablets from the vets last year but they really didn't work.

Re: Time To Ban Firework Sales????
Your supposed to give the tablet to the dog not take them yourself;)

Sadly we cannot ban people but banning fireworks would only send then underground. What is needed is stiffer penalties for misusing fireworks. But then we would need more police to enforce them. |

Re: Time To Ban Firework Sales????
I don't know about fireworks, but it's about time we banned this 'trick or Treat' nonsense; it is no more than blackmail. Unfortunatley, the little devils are under the age of criminal responsibility, otherwise we would have about a million of 'em locked up alongside those two that tried to do the Windsors the other month.
Anyway, I had a couple of 'em round last night ringing the door bell. This time I was prepared - I borrowed the neighbour's rottweiler. It's bark is louder than it's bite, but nevertheless when I let it loose at the front door those little rascals soon shifted. They may have been 10 or 11 year old, but they ran like Olympic champions. Anyway, I doubt if they'll be back next year! woof woof! |
