Proposed Cuts In Fire Service!!
A proposal has been put forward to reduce fire engines by up to a third and to introduce smaller fire trucks to deal with nuisance fires. It is about time that the publics safety became more important than savings IMO. What do you think?

When the phone operator answers the call how does he decide whether a fire is big or small- it gets bigger while he/she decides.

Re: Proposed Cuts In Fire Service!!
After dealing with the fire service directly last night i have to say what an amazing job these guys do. It took them less than ten minutes to get to my girlfriends house, great service and a great bunch of guys aswell. Cutting back puts everyone at risk, cant believe anyone thinks this would work.

Re: Proposed Cuts In Fire Service!!
We have already lost the Manchester Road station and had it replaced with a smaller and less attractive unit to make the service more efficient, at this rate the fire cover for Accrington and District will consist of one bloke on a bike with a bucket! But you can bet that there will not be a consequent reduction in the amount that the fire service takes out of our Council Tax.

Re: Proposed Cuts In Fire Service!!
If the meeting in Deceber is open to the public I for one will be attending. It is time we made our views known about cuts in essential services that could well result in people losing their lives.

Re: Proposed Cuts In Fire Service!!
When one of Blackpool’s pump engines are down they borrow one from Burnley, they do this because of the proximity of Burnley to Accrington and Blackburn. Situations like this will stretch the service over an even wider distance. Small mobile fighting units should be bought to compliment existing appliances, not reduce them.
I suggest we kick out the migrant workers and the economic and illegal immigrants who are currently draining existing council budgets, at least that way the increase in Council Tax will add value to our services instead of encouraging people to come over here. I know this is controversial, but the cost in terms of any future for all our services is one we can’t currently afford. |
