Hi , does anyone know anything about the medical centres that are opening in accrington (blackburn road and the one next to the bridge pub in the centre).
I was told that they will have NHS dental places and was wondering if anyone knew maybe when it was opening , or if there is a waiting list to applie to. Ta v much :D |

Re: Medical Centre ?
I drive past both of them everyday, it looks as though they are putting the finishing touches to them, so I would be expecting them to open soon.

Re: Medical Centre ?
the one towards church is supposed to be opening this month- we shall see?;)

Re: Medical Centre ?
Think the one on Paradise Street is December

Re: Medical Centre ?
They do say there'll be a dental surgery but did they actually say there was going to be a dentist in it? I was under the impression it was NHS dental personnel rather than premises that we were short of.

Re: Medical Centre ?
I read that the emergency service is being moved there from Accy Vic.
I had to use that a few months ago and asked about getting onto their regular practice list (Margaret P told me she was on it), but I was told that I had to join the waiting list like for any other NHS dentist. |
Re: Medical Centre ?
Anybody who wants a NHS dentist there is one near Morrisons that haven't got a waiting list.
|
Re: Medical Centre ?
I am on the list now (since June) - hoping to be allocated one in Ossy within next six months. I have only 7 real teeth left now :o so I stopped paying for Denplan and am keeping fingers crossed for no more abcesses before then.
Extractions at the emergency service cost the same as one month's Denplan cover (about £16) |

Re: Medical Centre ?
I see there are traffic lights outside the Paradise Street centre. Not an ideal place for them with it being a blind bend from top end of Church Street.

Re: Medical Centre ?
its as bad as that zebra crossing as you turn up to where lardiz was..

If you need an NHS dentist phone NHS direct, you'll then go on the waiting list, it only took us 3 months to get a dentist, though not sure what I trhink of their service yet, anyone else go to the one at the top of Ossy across from Roe Greave Road?

someone mentioned traffic lights at the paradise street centre? I see that they are also at the other one too!! what i dont get is, they put lights here.....BUT they WONT put them nr britannia pub, where they are needed most:( bloody typical! |
Re: Medical Centre ?
There was always a set of traffic lights round about there on Blackburn Road so they are just replacing the old ones. Suppose they are a neccessity on Paradise Street as well or people would never get across. The traffic is constant all day.

Re: Medical Centre ?
yeh i suppose, but why cant they put one on that junction???
all down to money they said:( |
Re: Medical Centre ?
Has there been a petition? If not why don't you get one going.

I have been going there since I was a young child and have never had any cause to complain. However, our dentist has recently left the practice and gone private so our family has been placed with other dentists at the practice. In the last 6 months both my husband and my mum have had terrible experiences there at the hands of two different dentists who botched up. My mum had her crowns loosened on one side during a basic extraction. This caused an infection to set in and her face swelled up like Desperate Dan. Had to get manager to put it right. Took months. :( My hubby went to the same practice last week, different dentist, for a filling. This dentist used latex gloves despite him telling her of his latex allergy. Thankfully it's not fatal so he's still alive. He had to ask her for an injection for the filling, don't think she was going to bother. Probably because she didn't know what she was doing. She faffed around putting the needle in, pulling it out, twisting it about, for 20 minutes. He was in agony for the rest of that evening and the following day but thankfully ok now. Whilst he was in reception there was a guy complaining about the dentist who my mum saw. This guy had gone in for a filling, the dentist had slipped with the drill and made a hole in the next tooth! He had come back for that to be made right and filled but they were trying to charge him and wanted payment up front.....for rectifying their error! All this is too much. I can't risk my kids being seen by these incompetents and one of them having a bad experience....that's how phobias start. I'm looking for another dentist for us. Sorry to scare anyone who is registered there and hasn't been for a bit but it makes me really mad that these things have happened and I wonder how many others have had a bad experience there. |
Re: Medical Centre ?
Think you should warn people Lilly especially if they have got children which Panther has. It could save their kids being traumatised.
|
Re: Medical Centre ?
Lilly, I hope you have put in a Complaint naming and shaming those concerned. I know I would. :(

Re: Medical Centre ?
Sorry drifted a bit from the original subject........as far as I know they are taking on dental patients when they open.
