Getting There.......

Some of you will know that back in August I lost my job and face the doldrums of unemployment, not the best move I’ve made over the years, more so when I was told I didn’t qualify for benefits, anyway I thought it was time I let those who might be interested how things have gone..

I’m a bit of a fussy ****** and have high expectations of my employers, to me the world is black and White with now’t between and I like things right, more so because my work over the past 20 years as been Domiciliary Care, caring for older people and vulnerable adults in the community, with regret my past employers have never really met with expectation and I’ve thrown in the towel as an employee…

In September I registered my own company with Company’s House and set about finding finance, I had to change my bank (Lloyds TSB) as the one I spent 15 years in didn’t want to know because I was a risk? So I went to RBS who also said I was a risk but gave my 15K to go with the 5K I already had from my Family. Anyway, it’s now December and despite difficulties with the likes of BT I have invested heavily in my office and support systems, my registration with the Commission for Social Care Inspection is in and on the way to completion with means I could be operational towards the end of January….

I have spent the last 10 years as a manager and adviser to other people who have always tended to put profit before anything else, now I have a chance to give something back and provide the care and support that I believe people should receive without compromise. I’ll let you know how things go….

Good luck with it Doug. I hope it all goes well for you, it sounds like you've worked hard for it and you deserve success. It's good to know there are people who still care about doing things right and putting people first.

Good luck Doug, I work for a company who do things properly, don't take advantage and put clients before money, I wonder sometimes if it is appreciated, just occassionally somebody tells you it is, and that keeps you going, I really hope you do well.

It is true, my boss pays herself a pittance, she always treats clients and staff very well, her new clients last month numbered 75, she will if she wants, and deserves to, retire very early.

GOOD LUCK DOUG. I'm sure you will do well.
I work for a small home and my boss always puts his clients welfare before anything else. They are all happy and contented. He's a good boss to work for that's why I have been there for 16yrs or so. before coming to accy I drifted in and out of jobs and wasn't happy with what I saw in a lot of homes when I worked for a nursing agency.

Here’s a couple of photos of the care office for those that where interested. The office is around 400. 2/ft and will take a partition should the Commission insist on have a separate office. Progressing now and on schedule to be operational 2nd half of January. I’ll be looking for a couple of foundation staff once the New Year is behind us. I’ve another couple of computers to go in and the call monitoring system then that’s it. Play time……

The agency’s care provision will be Outcome Based, this is intended to put the service user in control, providing a service that best suite their individual needs using their allocated time more effectively therefore reducing the risk of dependency on the system With luck and hard work we will succeed in what we’re doing, anything less will be my own fault…..Again thanks for the support and vote of confidence, those that have pm’d me, forgive the delay, I do appreciate it and I will get back to you.

In respect of returning to the Stanley fold, well I never left, I’m there in the background one way or another, sharing the excitement and disappointments of each match, the radio, video clips and above all else Tony Ks photos serve me well for now, we fade into the background for a while but like all bad penny’s we turn up again eventually…..

Doug, I'm really glad that you're getting it together and I hope it all goes well for you. However, the above comment disturbs me somewhat. Dave hasn't succeeded in diverting you from the one true path of righteousness, has he? Please tell me it isn't so!

Wynonie im a member of the OSC as well but Burnley comes first. Was brought up in a house that was divided mum, dad and brother was rovers and my 2 sisters are Burnley. Which one do you pick? My sis and her then boyfriend took me to my first football match so it was Burnley for me plus i liked their strip nicer colours than that boring blue and white......

Fair enough, Shillelagh but you've been Claret all along. I'm just concerned about Doug jumping ship. I fear that Dave may have been enticing him away by promising him the prospect of actually seeing regular home wins!

Re: Getting There.......

In the year of our Gracious Lord, Nineteen Hundred and Sixty Two the evil Herod (Lord) a miser of the land of Turds plucked the brightest star from the sky above Lancashire and the land called the Holy of Holly’s (Peel Park) sank from the hearts of the true men of Lancashire.

But our Gracious Lord relit that distent Star and gave the men of Lancashire a new land of Promise and in his wisdom he called this Promised Land the Crown Ground. And forever more he cried aloud this is Holy Ground and will be forever more be the land of true men…

And he said on to lesser men….If I speak of the land of the “Turf on the Moor” I’d say **** Hole.
