Got to say I agree with that. This PC Plod thing could cause more problems than it's supposed to solve.

It may have been amusing at first, but we don't need this heavy handed presence, same as you wouldn't want a cop breathing down your neck warning you about things all the time in real life. Especially when it puts the damper on an amusing thread, which it did on one occasion, for me at least.

The good guys aren't a problem, the bad guys it won't make behave, if anything it's likely to rile them.
All we need is the rules to be set out again for all to see, and if a post warrants it, warning or deletion.

Just one other thing. The idea of PC Plod was to be anonymous was it not?
Pretty soon people are going to suss out whos who by the way you post guys!:D :D

i actually thought that the plods were for the benefit of our younger members , to that them know that the forum is moderated (policed) at all times, & in a kind way show them the right & wrong of being involved in an adult, children accomadating forum //

Not to my knowledge. Just coincidence I think that PC Plod started his beat round about the time we had a large influx of younger posters from the Stanley forum.

And it's a bit unfair to suggest that it's just the younger posters that need advice on how to be involved in a forum.

Debateble point. Do you really think that the likes of Fat Pie & such would take any notice of PC Plod? Unlikely.
And like I said in an earlier post, those of us who "behave" don't need moderating to that extent.

Most people know whats what within a few days of joining any forum, realise that they are moderated, (the good ones, anyway), and have sussed out who the mods are. The over-prominence of any moderator is unlikely to stop someone being a nuisance if that is their intention. If anything it is likely to produce more reactions like Nessies.

Re: PC Plod

Yes, as on any good forum, and many of his posts were deleted before the majority of posters saw them, but this was before PC Plod so I don't get your point.

There was a software change at xmas, all the same people just a different look and a bit faster.
Fatpie was a member who was persistant in posting rubish in serious threads and offended people. He was Banned!

He would have been banned all the same whether it was Roy or PC Plod.
The idea being as i have said before is to take some of the pressure from roy.
If he had not been able to get online at that time, say for work reasons, Who would have banned him? Only certain mods can do it as you know.
