It was peacefull last new years day too, hence the wildlife coming out to play ...... just remember not to try and swerve to avoid one if the need arises ....run the booger over.

I drove back from my cousin's tonight and thought exactly the same thing.

No loonies, no boy racers, no 4x4's, no mums double parked outside the schools.

It was like driving twenty five years ago, when I first passed my test.

Oh I wish it could be Christmas everyday.:)

i honestly thought wow this is like when they show the b&w clips of those newly built motorways back in the 60's... though the 2nd lane hoggers were still out in force...

We haven't been out on the road today - we've got a car with a poorly wheel. It got a puncture on Christmas Eve after everywhere had closed so we've just got the emergency tyre on which got us home. We wonder if there will be anywhere open tomorrow where we can get a tyre fixed.

Mani , it was probably in the late 50s when the first section of motorway opened in the UK , it was the Preston by-pass and folks used to go out for a Sunday afternoon drive just to say they had used it , don't think there was a speed limit on in those days either , bit like a few years later when families would drive out to Ringway (now Manchester) airport just to watch the planes take-off and land .:D :D

I enjoyed my drive to work this morning, as you say, almost empty roads.

Depending on which way the planes are coming in there is a road you can stand on and they are about 30 foot above you. I went there taking piccys one day. I can't remember how I got there, I think I headed off teh motorway and carried straight on through
