Was that a Freudian slip? :D

I got depressed when I read my last blog entry. Thought I'd found the solution to my weight problems back then but it all levelled out and fizzled off, or vice versa. Been a long slow slog ever since and MILES to go yet.

the missus swears by slimming world, joined weight watchers once and the `newcomers` had to be weighed on different scales to the regulars..mmmmmmmmm needless to say she was heavier than the boots scales, so she sacked it off and returned to SW where she is doing great!!!

what a load of b****ks, (sorry for the little swear word;)):o, i go to weightwatchers, the newcomers have to be weighed by the group leader, so she can sort them out, after that you can get weighed on any scales you like:rolleyes:

What difference does the scales make? Surely they'd all read the same weight? Or is there something more visual about being weighed on one set than the other?

Does everyone get to know how much you have lost/gained? Or is it private?

So they make the newcomers feel like the weigh more than they do? Surely they would all realise that somethings wrong when they go home and their own scales read differently?

WW and SW should get those machines that you put 20p in to weigh yourself :p

WW first use a scale that makes you look really heavy say add 30 pounds then slowly alter so you loose some then you gain some so you are always with them.

Maybe it’s Slimming World who have the rigged scales. “ If we make em seem lighter they will be happier with us than with Weight Watchers” :D

It was said that newcomers were weighed on scales that recorded their weight heavier than it really was, so that after the first week, when using the normal scale, they would be convinced that a WW diet was wonderful- that is cheating to me

I think i'd be a bit suspicious if my scales at home read 30 pounds lighter than the ones at WW.

What if they rig the scales you always use at the meets? How do you know which are rigged and which aren't? If you fear they might be rigged cant you just say, well actually i'd like to try those other ones to see if they read any better? And if they read different surely they'd have alot of explaining to do?

Do people speak up about these concerns or are they afraid of the people who organise these groups?

panther 03-01-2008 18:03

Re: Worried going back to slimming world......... :>(

There are two sets of scales, you line up and choose whichever scales ya want to be weighed on, i have only ever put on half a pound since joining, people only say they are rigged when they probably have put weight on, due to probably picking and not realising you have gone over on ya points.
if you stick to your diet you WILL lose weight....simple.....its nowt to do with scales being tampered with, as i said before when i weigh myself just before a meeting, they read the same as the ones at Weightwatchers...explain that one.......no you cant:rolleyes:
and before someone says why would you weigh yourself at home and then at WW and pay....well i do it for the motivation thats what the meeting is about, and the fact that someone is keeping an eye on your weight and you would feel a right div if you did put weight on:o.

any more questions:rolleyes:

Do you have to be a certain weight to join? To they encourage exercise aswell or just the diet?

I dont quite understand how it works. Do you stop using the point system once you have reached your target weight or do you have to stick to it to stay at the weight? Or do you just eat healthily?

panther 03-01-2008 18:25

Re: Worried going back to slimming world......... :>(

just eat healthy, its up to you I suppose, if you go back to your old eating habits then naturally you will put on weight.
once you have reached your target weight you become a goldmember, free membership for life as long as you stay within 4lb of your target weight.

Hi all, well i went back to slimming world on weds and had put 3 pound on, since xmas and new year !! ( better than the 7 pound ide put on last xmas lol ) so i thought that wasnt too bad :o

any way back on the eating plan now :)
Like ive said in my previous post whatever plan you go on, if you stick to it and do a little exercise, then you will loose weight,
and i have done weightwatchers plan for over 5yrs, and it DOES WORK, but i felt i wanted a change, so joined slimming world, which is completly differant eating plan to w w, but never the less STILL WORKS if you stick to it. and ive lost 20Ib so far since end of oct !! :)
take care all xx

my wife as just started slimming world after getting fed up with staying the same or working realy hard on weight watchers and only loosing half pounds .if you are a big eater i think slimming world is the best diet no counting points just eat as much food on your chosen day as you want.you have a red day and a green day .one you eat as much meat as you like plus lots of other things like full english breckfast.green day eat pasta potatoes veg quorn meat.as much fruit as you like.i think it is a no excuse diet never should you be hungry on slimmers world diet.you also have a set amount of sins you use daily so you can still have a couple of drinks or a treat

panther 23-01-2008 19:00

Re: Worried going back to slimming world......... :>(

im never hungry and im with WW, and i can eat what i want, as long as I stay within my points;)

Re: Worried going back to slimming world......... :>(

Slimming World is just like WeightWatchers just a quid a week cheaper (thanks Peter Kay for that one.)
Tried going along with Mrs MTB following SW diet. The Free Veg soup was evil - had the keep the windows open permanently

On a more serious diet note; try roasted veg. Parsnips, Sweet Potato and Shallots, brushed with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Sprinkle on a few herbs and serve with a chop, steak or chicken breast. Keep other meals light and reasonable healthy and the pounds will fly away. Including cutting out sugar I lost 2 stones in 3 months last year. OK so I put 1 of them back on in the winter - back on the wagon now so the summer kit might fit!!!
