Surprised nobody has mentioned it yet...

but since making my thread about getting on a bit, I thought what about the recently lady who some people feel has stepped down too soon?

Darcey Bussell announced she was going to focus on her family and stop dancing full time (think she said she is still going to do some dance and teach a bit), yet nobody has discussed it. No ballet fans on accyweb? I think its a shame someone so talented is leaving the stage, but as she feels her body is taking more strain from it now, then I guess its fair enough.

Just thought some might have expressed their sadness or whatever about it anyway, maybe some people just forgot or havent found an excuse to mention they appreciate the ballet yet, so here is your chance!

She hasn't retired.

Ms. Bushell has teamed up with Katherine Jenkins, and is appearing in a vaudeville show, at the end of a pier, near you now.

if you want to see what a real ballarina can do , check either of these out
YouTube - Galina Ulanova Yuri Zhdanov Romeo and Juliet (vaimusic.com)

she was in her 60s when this was filmed , keep your eyes on her arms

or maybe Galina Ulanova

both of them make Ms Bussell look like she belongs with the Coco-nut dancers of Bacup
(no offense intended to the Bacup coco-nut cloggers ) :D :D

i thought darcy was giving up because she couldnt afford to carry on dancing. my daughter does ballet and each year there are more children leaving and very few new starters,

Thats not what she said in her interviews, but maybe it is so, I doubt she is that bad off though.

I used to go ballet when I was little, I absolutely detested it and cried my eyes out, but now I wish I had stuck to it because its a brilliant thing. Nevermind though, I can sit in the library by myself instead and study all day and night :o
