No more Corrie/Emmerdale on a Sunday
ITV is to scrap its Sunday night episode of Coronation Street as part of a channel revamp to make weekends a soap-free zone.
The half-hour show will move to 8.30pm on Fridays. Emmerdale is also being ditched from Sunday nights. Viewers will get an hour-long episode on Tuesdays instead 7-8pm The changes are part of a new-look and more "user-friendly" 2008 schedule ITV plans to screen more original, hour-long dramas at 9pm on weekdays. Fridays will focus on comedy and entertainment. Simon Shaps, ITV's director of television, said: ""One of the principal ideas behind these changes is to make the weekends on ITV1 feel special." oh dear me  |
Re: No more Corrie/Emmerdale on a Sunday

Re: No more Corrie/Emmerdale on a Sunday
so what about the repeats on weekend??
they cant get rid of that:o its the only time i get to watch!!!!!!!! |
Re: No more Corrie/Emmerdale on a Sunday
Thanks for that Flashy, would have prepared me tea in time so that I could watch Corrie and probably only watched one episode on Friday's, not knowing. Like ya' do when footies on .. :(
Find that there is always some good dramas on at 9 0'clock anyway on a Sunday so don't really get their point ? You say weekdays though ? totally confused  Are they moving the Sunday dramas to weekday ? Or did you mean weekend and said mistakenly weekday ? .. LOL. Tonight can't make me mind up between Foyles War and a Nicolas Cage movie (no, problem for Gayle methinks ..tee hee). Think will record Foyles War, whilst I still can on my video. ! |
Re: No more Corrie/Emmerdale on a Sunday

Re: No more Corrie/Emmerdale on a Sunday
When I first heard about this I thought that Coronation Street were dropping an episode but they are only moving an episode from Sunday to Friday so it will still be on for the same number of hours per week.
I love Corrie but I do think the storylines are going downhill because it is on too often. How can the writers come up with enough decent storylines to fill all these episodes? I think it should be on twice a week, say 1/2 hour on Monday and 1/2 hour on Wednesday and I bet we would see an improvement pretty soon. |
Re: No more Corrie/Emmerdale on a Sunday
Some stupid arse Tarquin at ITV will have come up with this not so bright idea.
Corrie and Emmerdale are the two most watched programmes on ITV, Coronation Street being the top rated programme of all the channels, by over a million viewers, yet they decide to mess with a winning formula. Madness. If it ain't broke, it doesn't need fixing. Corrie will still be here, when the numpty who came up with the idea is doing the programme links on QVC. |

Re: No more Corrie/Emmerdale on a Sunday
People who have a mundane existance need soaps to see how (awfully) the other half live. My existance is mundane.........but after the hectic life I had...... I call it 'peaceful' :D
PS soaps are boring! |
