I have been selected to be on a jury panel on a trial today.......yay! :Banane27:

Trial started late afternoon so not many details yet. I won't be able to post any details on here anyway. You never know who's reading the forums and I don't want to land myself in trouble.

I'm just glad that this week is looking to be far more productive than last week was. :)

For crying out loud! ( Where's the smiley that's tearing its hair out? )

We waited around all morning and then we got sent home at 12 noon today. The trial we were on has collapsed.

One of the witnesses decided she did not want to give evidence and they cannot proceed with the trial without her so that's it, trial abandoned.

I had felt much better going into court this morning, like I was there to do a job, there for a purpose rather than just hanging around. I should have known it was too good to be true shouldn't I?

There are two more trials scheduled for tomorrow so we have to report back to court at 10.30am. Another jury will have to be selected and the whole damn charade starts again. Aaaaarrrrrgh!!

I'm not a celebrity but........GET ME OUT OF HERE!

Oh I'll miss it terribly.....NOT.

I really thought that we'd cracked it yesterday when the trial began but no, twas not to be.

If one of those jury summons ever comes into this house again I'll be sorely tempted to set fire to it.

I did warn you

Re: Jury Service??

I did a stint at Burnley Crown Court, noticed all the secretaries typing out reams of paperwork through an open window. The costs involved must be astronomical in preparing all the paperwork for one trial alone, then for it to collapse on what seems like the whim of one person … It must be frustrating for everyone involved.

There are loads of cases where the defendant pleads guilty on the day of going to trial, thousands per year I would guess, there were 6 such cases in my two weeks at Burnley.:(

It really is interesting if you sit on a jury for a trial tho.
