Strange that you'd even have to answer a question about a saints nationality, i know we celebrate xmas here but that ones pushing it a bit.

But it isn't about a Saint's nationality. If it had said Santa Clause you may have had a point as the name Santa Clause is derived from and the character is based on St Nicholas who was indeed a rel person and from Smyrna.

But Father Christmas although used interchangeably with Santa Clause these days is actually based on a much older and pagan guy and by tradition is based at the North Pole - however there are so many kids trips to visit him in Lapland these days that it could be argued that most British kids would say that was where he lived. In fact according to Wikipedia it's the Americans who reckon he lives at the North Pole!

As for PG I reckon most Brits would plump for 'tea' rather than 'parental guidance'.
:D

Or youcould take it a step further and say that the fat man in red and white we refer to as santa claus originates from Coca Cola, but it would be getting a little bit too finicky about it wouldnt it.

The main point is that there is no way that is a serious test. What newspaper is this reported in again?
