Customer Service for Taxi Drivers
Well, done it again, left something in the back of a taxi .. just a packet of nearly full packet of cigarettes .. however .. still nearly £ 5 monetary wise (no comments from the non-smoking fanatical brigade please).
Over the years I have lost money, umbrellas, mobile phones, lipsticks, perfumes, jewellery, etc., whilst rummaging for my payment in me handbag in the back of taxis. Ok .. maybe sometimes too many bacardis/cokes at times, have led me to be clumsy and forgetful, but distractions are also due to the dim internal lighting, and the way I am chatting to the driver at the same time. Bet all you lot have lost items at times with no hope of recovery of said named. Just a suggestion that taxi drivers politely ask you to check before exiting the back seat to make sure you have not dropped anything .. know this would not have cost me my fags tonight. Wonder sometimes if this is a lucrative sideline to them. :( |
Re: Customer Service for Taxi Drivers
depends on what it is that you've left behind katex. If you leave money they can spend it, jewellery they can sell that on, fags they can smoke them or if they dont sell them to someone who smokes, the only thing is how many brollies get left in taxis?

Re: Customer Service for Taxi Drivers
Hmmmm I don't see why it's up to the driver to remind people to check they haven't left anything.
And the drivers don't sit in the back. Nor do they get out the car every single drop to check the seats..... usually you will find that it's the next customers that have a lucky find and pocket the items. There have been occasions when Ginger has found phones and other things that have slipped on the floor under the seats.... this is usually found when he is cleaning next day. They are taken to the office and the person usually rings up when sober to see if they left it in the taxi. If the person doesn't bother to ring, they get taken to the police station. surprising how many people don't even care to check with the taxi firms about lost phones though. |
Re: Customer Service for Taxi Drivers
Not really suggesting it is the taxi drivers Shillelagh, (was a little tongue in cheek .. I think ?) could be the next passenger, just wish they would ask before getting out if I have got everything, they are always so impatient to get you out to pick up their next passenger. If you ring up, they have never found anything.
Brollies ? .. must have lost at least 5 .. |
Re: Customer Service for Taxi Drivers
but time is money to them though. the longer you are in the taxi it is costing them money especially if its a tight turnaround there is someone waiting for them. I always make sure i have everything with me when i get out there was only once i left something behind but i got it back cos it was my regular taxi driver and firm, and they brought it back to me. Have found a fiver once in a taxi - taxi driver took it and gave it in at the office. No one claimed it though and a couple of weeks later i got a free taxi ride out of it.

Re: Customer Service for Taxi Drivers
Posted same time Slinky .. I know what you saying, sure this does happen in what you say .. just think it would be a lovely touch if they ask you to check if you have got everything, that's all. I am not going to ring up the taxi company concerned to ask if they have found a packet of Embassy Filter after I left, as am cynical to expect their next passenger will pocket it anyway.
Just customer care to me, that's all. You would ask this if you gave a lift to anybody wouldn't you ? Well, I would. |

Re: Customer Service for Taxi Drivers
They should also have to point out the emergency exits before the journey starts, as well as reminding you to check you haven't left anything in the overhead lockers, before landing at your destination.
It would be nice if they also served you a dainty little meal, half way into your journey, and offered duty free cigarettes.:D |

Re: Customer Service for Taxi Drivers
It's annoying Kate, but I think we have to take responsibility for our own actions.
Where would it end? Landlord shouting out to you when you leave, if you've got your handbag. Which isn't as annoying as when he shouted earlier if you'd washed your hands, after powdering your nose? |
