Directory enquires free again
As from today Directory enquires are free on BT. The service is obtainable on 0800 100 100, but there is a catch, when you access this service you will hae to liste to a 20 second adver which will off set the costs. Its thought that it will save customers some £300, 000. Thats a plus I nly used DE once after they stared charging and they gave me the wrong number. Oh yes and you will speak to a human being in call centres, and waite for it, IN THIS COUNTRY, yepeeeeeeeeeee:D

Re: Directory enquires free again
Now that more people have internet access, this was bound to happen. I always use the free directory enquiry search on the BT website.

Re: Directory enquires free again
i tend to just use google rather than directory enquiries

Re: Directory enquires free again
Is that still free for people who aren't on BT landlines?

Re: Directory enquires free again
Directory enquiries isn't really as much use as it was a few years ago, because I don't think cable users are in it, and some people just have mobiles only.
Those bulky directories must be expensive to produce, are hard to read (small print), and end up in the white recycling bag --what a waste -- they could be abolished to enable our bills to be cut -- perhaps, like having a reduced charge for direct debit payment, they could have a discount for a 'no paper directory' option. |

Re: Directory enquires free again
I like Margaret's idea about no Telephone Directories (unless you want one) and getting a discount. But BT would then think up a scheme to recoup the rebate they gave you.
I am with BT for line rental, but make my calls with my ISP, which is Virgin. I got my onlin bill yesterday and found I am now paying for 1571. Apparently this has been in place since May 2007, if you are not amking calls via BT network. It is still free if you make 2 chargeable calls oer month or 6 per quarter. I got them to refund this month's charge and cancelled 1571, as I had never receoved any notification about this extra charge. I checked all my bills back to May, but in previous months I had made some calls (by prefixing 1280 to the number) so this was the first month I had been charges. If I ever need to make any 0870/0871/0845 I use BT because they are cheaper than Virign. I must add I always try to find a geographic number on 'Saynoto0870' before ringing any nongeographic number. As my free phone call tariff with Virgin is only for evenings and weekends, I make any calls during the day from my mobile, so they don't cost me anything. I get 300 any time (any network) minutes a month form Virgin Mobile for £10.00 and I never use them all up. |

Why they didnt just stick with BT192 in the first place instead of starting all these f*cking stupid 118 things beats me.
