Looks like another gimmick to me, yet another jobsworth attempting to justify his own position and the Committee he chairs. Dunno where these plebs get their ideas from.

Re: Licence to smoke!!

Another load of old bunkum that will never come to fruition.

Mind you, that's what I said about the smoking ban in public places when I first heard of it, so who knows?

Re: Licence to smoke!!

I will just join the bootleggers if they do this, and I have 4 vehicles at my disposal to do it, this government are way way beyond a joke, this rule probably wouldn't apply to politicians and parliament! Useless bags of wind most of them, if I did my job the way the mp's of this country (in the main) do thier's, people would die!

£10 a year for photo id. Has it occured to these clowns that some of us have government issued photo id already at ridicolous costs.

Re: Licence to smoke!!

I don't smoke, but this is ridiculous and both smokers and non-smokers should rally behind scrapping this idea.

The Government already have too much data, too much control, too much power and will not halt at prying further into our lives if we don't put a stop to it by saying NO.

Re: Licence to smoke!!

I'll pay the annual £10 licence fee if the government cut the taxes on cigarettes by half.

Fair does aint it?

Well its not nicotine that's for sure!!

Shame he didn't say this on April Fools day as it would then have had more credibility!

I wonder what Graham Jones has to say about this, or will he go missing again:D

Re: Licence to smoke!!

i think its a great idea - so long as shop keepers stick to only selling ciggies when people have the permit -
but how are they going to police it have to be scanned each time they sell ciggies ......?
