We have some similar issues here; just this evening the whole house smelt very strongly of garlic when we returned from town, and a couple of times I have woken up with a really bad headache and the bedroom stinks of cigarette smoke. ( and before you start it isn't a hangover or anyone else smoking !:rolleyes:)

Headaches can play havoc with your sence of smell lindsay, make you smell thigs that arn't there, have you any gas heaters? carbon monoxide can give you bad headaches although you can't smell it. I f you have gas heaters best to check them out

my hallway sometimes stinks of smoke, and neither me nor my fella smoke, went outside and could smell it coming from the neighbours house, so the smoke must have been coming through the walls.....yuk!!

Re: Strange Experience

I often get a smell of tangerines/oranges ( even when we've not been eating any or there's none in the house)...I was told by my Mum and Dad that when I used to visit my Nana (died when i was very young) that the first thing she said was " Have you eaten today ?...do you want a fruit" and the first thing i went for was an orange!

When I lived up Fern Gore my dog used to growl at the back bedroom door and refused to go into the room, The youngsters said they used to see a lady walking around the room, I never saw anything but must admit the room itself was several degrees colder that any other room in the house.

Re: Strange Experience

I once experienced a 'smell haunting'

My first husband's cousin had a cafe and guest house in St Johns Isle of Man.
The building was originally the Court House and was opposite Tynwald Mound - very old.
When we stayed there there was a haunting which was an overpowering strong smell of flowers which lasted about 10 minutes and went as quickly as it arrived.

When I experienced it I felt so very calm. I mentioned it the day after and was told 'Oh that - it's our ghost'.

Try the Stag Inn in Church - when it reopens.
I have known 4 landlords who all reported strange goings on
