Re: Toddler dies
His brother who is 3 month old has been overdosed as well.......whats their parent thinking of?
I always thought methadone was given out by the pharmacist - it wasnt taken from the premises. Because this isnt the first time this has happened is it there was one a few years ago the kids had got hold of the parents methadone and drank it and i thought the rules were changed then. |

It is thought the brothers may have mistaken the green liquid for cough mixture.....
What im saying Less it IMO, no child should be in the supervision of people on drugs, or methadone!! but i know where ya coming from;) |

Re: Toddler dies
Such a shame.
Sometimes there is no justice in this world. |
Re: Toddler dies
It's not always supervised, it's down to the discretion of the drug team dealing with the individual case, in any case most addicts on methadone get double doses on a saturday to cover them for sunday, so in theory if the mother and her partner were both on unsupervised methadone they could have had 4 bottles of it in the house.

ya took the words right out of me head;) |
Re: Toddler dies
Methodone and the like should only be given on doctors or pharmacy premises when the addicts have children, this way, they would have to get off thier a**e and get thier fix, and the drug would not be left within the reach of children, I suspect though that many addicts would go for the fix, and leave the children at home alone and perhaps in equal danger, so maybe removing the children is the best option (beginning to sound like a dogooder omg).

Re: Toddler dies
Its such a shame but not at all uncommon, we used to have addicts who received weekly scripts for methadone, most were on daily collection and the doses can be really high, though it wouldn't take much of it to kill a child. You really have to blame the parents, they dont deserve kids, I've seen lots of addicts kids being dragged up and it makes me sick that these poor kids are in this situation.
