Just A Word Of Warning!!
Just wanted to warn any couples out there who are both into computers to check with their provider what would be the outcome if the account holder dies. I have had no help whatsoever from "Orange" who Ian had an account with. The long and the short of it has been that I have had no internet connection from December 29th till yesterday and it has been really horrible trying to get a straight answer from any of their "customer non-helpline staff". Although we don't like to think about our husband/wife going do think you should out if your provider is prepared to transfer an account to surviving partner if it happens. You could well save yourself going through what I have if you ask.

Re: Just A Word Of Warning!!
Thanks for that, Bernadette. It's appalling that you were left without connection for that length of time. My account is in my husband's name, I shall have to look into that.

Re: Just A Word Of Warning!!
Worth looking into Lilly as Orange refused to transfer account into my name.

Totally disgusting treatment bernadette, glad your all sorted out finally, it is ridiculous when they cant even update computer details.

Re: Just A Word Of Warning!!
Bernie, wait till my my mum Ossylass sees this thread, she had a total nightmare when my step dad died and I think that was Orange too !
|
Re: Just A Word Of Warning!!
Yep, Orange were still sending bills to Len in October, in spite of me sending a death certificate in July - plus numerous letters and phone calls. When your husband's just died, that's something you don't need!

Re: Just A Word Of Warning!!
the treatment that bernie had off orange was diabolical to say the least i know the full in's & out's & like i said before it's been horrendous for her, sounds like it was the same for your mum too lyndsey. its an appalling way to treat people who are at their most vunerable just after the death of a loved one ive been blazing on bernie's behalf.

Re: Just A Word Of Warning!!
What is wrong with these companies, first they caused so much distress, when its just as easy to be helpful, after all Bernie was a customer when alls said and done, you would think they would have wanted to keep her on the books. these people need to be exposed at the highest level

Re: Just A Word Of Warning!!
I'm sure hassle like this is the last thing you want to deal with, at such a sad time.
Totally disgusting. |
Re: Just A Word Of Warning!!
It gets even better, they sent a letter asking for return of wireless router. Guess who it was addressed to? If they don't receive it within thirty days they are going to demand a payment of £100. Now I have no problem returning it but they want me to pay for the postage. Think you all know they will be waiting a long time for it I am certainly not paying for its return.

If they insist in writing to Ian, let them sue him for it's non-return. I'm suprised my old mate Ianto hasn't sent down a bolt of lightning to their Head Office...yet. |

Re: Just A Word Of Warning!!
Good to see you back Bernie, damned shame that you have had to have such a “trial” to get back online.

Re: Just A Word Of Warning!!
One of the problems here is that these people read off a script on the computer, anything beyond black and white is double dutch to them, they could update files but are too lazy and would probably have to get a supervisor to allow it, whenever I speak to call centres, I always tell them to pretend they don't have a script in front of them, and to pretend that I am a real customer who requires assistance, half of the time they will hang up. Where I work, if we are informed of a couple becoming a single person, the details are updated on the computer immediately, then again, we don't have a script or a supervisor. I agree with others Bernadette, let the a holes pick up thier own poxy router.

Re: Just A Word Of Warning!!
Its awful what they've put you through Bernie companies like that should be able to easily transfer things across without any hassle.

Re: Just A Word Of Warning!!
I know what it was like when my mum died - everything was in her name so had to transfer everything to mine. I had so many arguments with the gas, electric, water etc that one day i slammed the phone down on them. One of them even said they couldnt switch it over unless they spoke to the person who's name was on the bill - i said if you want to write to her its Grave **** in St Johns Stonefold Cof E Church yard and she said you dont have to be like that - i said i told you she'd died so im asking you to put it in my name. Its hard enough when someone dies and you dont need all the hassle you get. The only one i didnt have any problems with was BT mind you sis sorted that one out.
Bernie an idea for you - if you get another letter from them addressed to Ian - i know it sounds horrible but it does work - write on it not known at this address and stick it back in the letterbox without opening it and no stamp on it. |
Re: Just A Word Of Warning!!
Must say that Orange is the only one I had any truck with. Sky just changed account into my name.
