LOL @ the "green" man david cameron...
Conservative leader David Cameron has apologised after being photographed ignoring red lights and cycling the wrong way up a one-way street.
I know it is important to obey traffic laws - but I have obviously made mistakes on this occasion and I am sorry," Mr Cameron said in a statement. The Mirror followed Mr Cameron on three Wednesdays as he cycled to the Houses of Parliament from his Notting Hill home. The newspaper featured Mr Cameron cycling the wrong way up a one-way street in Dawson Place, going through a red light in Great George Street, driving the wrong way around a bollard in the Mall and breaching a red light at the Houses of Parliament. A damaging blow to his green image was when it emerged he had biked to work - while a car followed behind carrying his clothes and documents. |
Re: LOL @ the "green" man david cameron...
Does he only cycle on a wednesday? How does he get there the rest of the time? :D:D:D

Breaking so many of our laws, he should probably be wearing a hoody, instead of telling us to hug one.

Re: LOL @ the "green" man david cameron...
Just watched the video. The person filming is also doing all the things Cameron is.
The amount of times I have crossed a road at a red pedestrian light because there has been no cars around so its safe to cross. |

Makes one wonder what else he considers to be a minor indiscretion!

He never did give a straight answer, when asked by reporters if he's ever done them, when he was part of that elitist group of toffs at Oxford, the Bullingdon Club, of whom many of it's members have since admitted to smoking/snorting/shooting up. |

I was thinking more of the indiscriminate lining of ones pocket, taking advantage of ones position, and other 'minor indiscretions'.

Re: LOL @ the "green" man david cameron...
As much as he's clearly broken the law here I don't think you can accuse him of those things derekgas

Re: LOL @ the "green" man david cameron...
I quite like Cameron. I think the Tories are so bereft of quality David got the top job because the previous 6 had to be given their P45 before even getting their 'foot to the peddle', pardon the pun.
Hilarious story. "Can't even point his bike in the right direction" said the Mirror. Caption writers and sub-eds can be very funny and very cruel I have to say. |

I can't remember a Labour MP apologising for anything. Just done 3 different searches starting with labour apolog (y, ise, ies) and there are hundreds, I suspect the same if you search the same for the other parties, the unfortunate things are, they only apologise when they are caught, and they probably dont actually mean they are sorry for the offence, but for being caught! Oh well its only politics! |

I think Cameron needs to realise that the Highway Code is there for a reason, the safety of all road users. I’m not casting stones, my driving probably isn’t all that great, but a bloke in his position…. He should know he is being watched constantly.
As a News item, it’s silly. Do the Mirror actually employ a reporting team to follow Cameron on his push iron, sad gits. I say a team as I assume it wasn’t the driver taking the footage on his mobile  |

Re: LOL @ the "green" man david cameron...
This was an amusing story and there can be no defense of breaking traffic laws. Full Stop.
To his credit, Cameron apologised, took responsibility and - I know this will come as a shock to most Labour minded individuals, didnt try to spin it into anything that it wasnt. There were no excuses made, no special treatment, nothing. He didnt even ask what it was a mirror reporter (who was also breaking the law) was doing following him in the first place. Im sure a Labour paper wouldn't really try and hunt a story down in a character assassination attempt and this was just pure luck that the reporter was just doing the same route Mr Cameron was doing at the same time. Thinking about it, if the best a Labour paper can do to pick apart opposition policy is to analyse the Leader's bike ride, they really must be scraping the bottom of the barrel! I saw Mr Cameron's acknowledgment to the Prime Minister during Prime Ministers Questions about the Dali Lama - nice to see a true statesman crossing the isle and recognising a good decision to meet the Dali Lama. Its a shame that the Prime Minister is so locked into self defense that he wasnt enough of a statesman to handle the complement correctly rather than firing back a cheap insult. |

Re: LOL @ the "green" man david cameron...
How many politicians do you see riding bikes around the streets of London? Least he was making a damn good effort, because there is no chance in hell that I'd get on a bike and ride on ANY road for fear of being knocked down dead. Good on him for at least advocating a healthy lifestyle if not a green image. Can you imagine carrying him attempting to carry all his paper work and such on his bike?
Better he lie about going through a red light than lying about what our taxes are being spent on. You still have Labour to blame for that little problem no matter how many one way streets DC bikes up the wrong way. |
Re: LOL @ the "green" man david cameron...
Bike riding in a city is not a healthy option.
It exposes the cyclist to vehicle exhaust fumes. He would be better off healthwise in the car that travelled behind him. If he thinks that it constitutes 'excercise' he would do better having a cycling machine at home. |

"Do I risk very little exercise, therefore opening myself up to heart failure and obesity?" "Do I risk the exercise and risk suffering from asthma, lung conditions?" Difficult choice ... but think the first option is probably the healthiest option. My son now rides his bike the 6 miles to Althrincham (and will shortly be into the city centre), apart from my fear of some nutter knocking him off his bike, I think he has chosen the better option. Is also one less car on the road in the morning. Walking about in a city is just as threatening from car pollution. We try to encourage our children to walk .. even catch the bus to school in the morning instead of mummy dear giving us a lift door-to-door. Again, if more children did this, then less traffic, and less carbon emissions, so would generate healthier walking. Difficult. |
Re: LOL @ the "green" man david cameron...
I think its dangerous for cyclists to use busy roads, especially in london!!
Going through a red light like that could have caused a very serious accident! |
