How stupid is this.

Its easier buying booze than what it is buying fags - you can walk round asda/tesco throw a box of 20 cans in your trolley take them to the check out and pay for them and away you go. To buy your fags you have to go to another check out and queue up and be served with them. Do they honestly think that not having them on display behind the counter is going to stop anyone buying them?

our asda has just started the 25 schemeon booze and cigs and when i was talkin to the checkout lass she said they were gettin loadsa grief from it.. can see why too..

Alchohol is far more damaging to society than tobacco. I've yet to see anyone have 5 fags and go and glass somebody in a pub, attack people in the street or cause damage to peoples property.

Do we really pay these people to run our country or are they volunteers on an ego trip ?

Maybe the better option is to stick them all under a counter and lets get on with our lives and actually have some fun in the process :)

Try hiding 20 cans of beer in your coat then try 20 fags which is the easier to hide ? that's why you have to Que for fags:D
In Spain although you can get fags anywhere and smoke anywhere sensable country:D
all the cigarettes machines in pubs are run by remote you have to ask at the bar before they will switch it on for you to get your fags

They are heading for more than under counter, under ground black market more like, trouble is, a lot of the black market ones are copies and avtually more dangerous than the real thing, my son lives in spain, might have to get something sorted out by post!

Being a none smoker obviously this would not effect me, but there is a point where government interference becomes a nonsense. The last time I looked the act of smoking wasn't actualy illegal, just smoking in a public place (indoors). Just where is the nanny state going to end:confused:

Not another crackpot idea from a government minister who has nothing better to do than to interfere in our lives.

I can’t argue with that but hiding tobacco products isn’t going to do it.

I suppose that the next logical step would be to hide alcohol products as well. Then there would be sugar and salt. Not forgetting any other foods that have been declared bad for us.

Under the counter Easter eggs and the like.

Asda and tesco etc are going to need bigger counters soon to make provision for all the banned stuff, I forsee chip shops, bakery's and kebab house etc, blacking out the displays, they will all look like private shops.. omg

Wonder how the supermarkets will play it if the out of site out of mind scheme comes in and all fags are put under counter..:confused: just curious thats all

who cares? it will not make the remotest differance to wether a person smokes or not, its just more garbage from point scoring people.:rolleyes:
