New coins unveiled with winning design - Home News, UK - The Independent

I think they look very trendy but have a traditional touch -the £1 is a complete depiction of a coat of arms -lesser value coins depict parts of it.
They should be Ok for blind people - they look very 'touch sensitive'

I like them. You can picture people sat at the bar trying to put them together like a jigsaw. :)

It doesn't say in the article though when they will come into circulation. Anyone know?

I don't like them. I think the value should be numerical and not the value in words. It could make it harder for tourists who may well be looking at the numbers on the till when they buy things over here.

i dont like them, the £1 coin is nice but the others look sh!t, fancy only putting half a picture on something

I didn't notice that they didn't have the numerical number on. I think that they should have them on instead of lettering but i still like them.

I don’t know why they bothered.

After all it is only a matter of time before we have to use the Euro coinage.

However having part of a design on a coin is just plain daft.

I think they look kinda neat. The Royal Canadain Mint regularly changes the desigh of coins for special events ... usually on the quarter. For example, we already have coins issued for the Winter Olympics in Vancouver in 2010 ... and a coin commemorating Canada's taking of Vimy Ridge was issued last year, the 90th anniversary of the battle ... however, I think the Royal Mint did a great job on your new coins. Maybe someone will be kind enough to send me some ... say a sackful

only half a picture looks stupid

mind you the next design will have half the picture and the other half will be half of the euro pictures

the next set after them will be the euro picture complete

hey presto we all got conned into converting to the euro without so much as a protest lol
