Npower
Omg!!! im so angry is unreal!!!
Right i will explain: My sister in law had her meters changed to prepayment meters 3 days ago,the guys that changed meter didnt leave a prepayment card for her to top up the meter, when she asked the guy he said that he should get one on the post the next day... next day came and the card didnt turned up. She rang npower who said that they sent a card and that it should be there, she says that she hasnt recieved no card otherwise she wouldnt be ringing and wasting credit, the woman on fone says that they will send another one recorded delivery and that it should be on post by tomorrow (yesterday), post comes and there is no card.Once again she has to ring them and yet waste more credit on fone. The woman on the other side says that her sistems are down and that there is nothing they can do about it , my sister in law starts going mad because she has a 2 year old daughter and she has to make teas and bath her and the house is freezing , the npower woman says that they gonna send a person to deliver the card and that they should be there in no more than 4 hours, well there we have a waste of 4 hours to wait for someone who guess what!!! they didnt turned up. Today day 3 without gas she comes to my house to tell me about it and ring them again and guess what??, the sistems are down but the woman tells mandy that they will send someone around and that she has to wait all day at home but that it will not be guaranteed that they will come. I heard ths conversation thru the loudspeaker so went mad grabbed the fone and started giving this woman load of bull**** saying that it was disgusting that they were living a child with no gas for 3 days, the woman says to me that there is nothing they can do, so i turned around and told them that no wonder why the company is so **** and that they always having trouble. Anyway will see what happens with this card and the gas, me on the other side i got in touch with npower and asked them to tell me how much is my bill for this period because im changin suppliers, utterly disgusting company!!! |
Re: Npower
national grid should have come and put some emergency gas on for her to last until she got her card....thats what they did with me.
|
Re: Npower
She will regret changing = will be paying more for gas whichever company she has
|
Re: Npower
Can you not get a card from the shop, wil do her temporarily
|
Re: Npower
The supplier can actually send an engineer out who can manually put credit on the meter. It is against the law for a house to have no supply with a dependant living there. Demand the engineer!

im with Npower but dont have a prepayment meter or card, never had one and never will, I just pay so much every month and it gets deducted from my bill, that way i know iv always got electric/gas:D |
Re: Npower
If you have no gas, ring 0800 111999, tell them you have no gas, dont tell them why until they get there (which has to be within 2 hours), the engineer should be able to sort something out, and n power will get the bill.

she as to go to the seling out shop in church and ask them for a card. hope that helps you |
Re: Npower
i dont think you can get gas cards from the shop, only electric.. i was waiting a week for mine and british gas said you couldnt do that.. i had to have a national grid engineer out twice to put emergency on for me.

Re: Npower
N power are crap hence i changed recently after 6years with them, during the past few mnths of unsatisfactory response from them i changed supplier guess what they now admit fault & is still awaiting my final bill with compensation deducted.
Do as Derek says & also submit a complaint to Offgem - they'll kick butts too. |

Re: Npower
I changed to Npower a few years ago, they promised the earth for me to change, then broke their word, I sacked them after six weeks, waste of space

Re: Npower
Hi this is Westender's daughter. I work for another large gas/electric supplier (not NPower) in the prepayment department. I've spent the last 7 years dealing with problems with prepayment meters, including cards not received.
Firstly please can I ask you not to call 0800 111 999? This is an emergency service for dangerous situations (gas leaks etc) and calling them out for this would be a gross abuse - maybe not quite on the scale of calling an ambulance for a grazed knee but you get the picture. The people on that line have a number of questions to ask - you probably wouldn't be able to get an engineer out anyway but if you did he wouldn't do anything. Those engineers are for fixing dangerous situations, not putting emergency credit on meters. It is not against the law to leave a household without gas supply, although I do sympathise with the lady concerned. All suppliers have the facility to contact National Grid and request a 'wind-on' (winding the emergency credit on). National Grid will check that certain criteria are met (child under 5 in the premises, person over 65 or somebody with a chronic or long-term heat dependent illness) and then check for availability of their engineers. If they have available manpower they will arrange a non-guaranteed callout with no time-limit. If they say there is no availability then there is nothing that the supplier can do, no matter who the supplier is. I suggest that you keep calling NPower every few hours as National Grid update their manpower spreadsheets often. If NPower are now closed for the weekend call National Grid yourself on 0845 606 6766, follow the telephone menu and impress on them that your supplier is closed. They should check availability for you. There is an option to send a company called Accuread to wind your meter on but they don't operate over the whole country. As regards the missing card - it may sound like a cop-out but once again, suppliers are dependent on another company - this time it's the Post Office and we all know how dependable they are. I really do feel sympathy for the lady without gas - we were left without any heating or hot water here through the really cold snap in January 07 and I have a young daughter - I know how hard it is - but I really do believe that NPower will have done their best for you. We are all human beings working in these big companies and we do, believe it or not, have hearts. I've come home from work before now and fretted all night because I didn't get someone on supply before I left as my mum (Westender) will verify. I hope the lady gets her gas on soon and can promise that when prepayment meters are working correctly (which they do 99% of the time) they are actually really handy. My company's cheaper though ;) |
Re: Npower
Hi, this is me, West Ender. I showed this topic to my daughter and it prompted her to write the above essay but she didn't want to register just for one post - hence it looks, at first glance, as if it's my post. She really does know her stuff so I hope what she has said is helpful. :)
