Advert for NOT going on sunbeds
BBC NEWS | Wales | South East Wales | Boy burned in tanning salon visit
He went on for 21 minutes in one day. He shouldnt have even gone on there anyway - he's only 13 the salon had signs up not to be use for under 16s but the salon wasnt staffed all the time - so he got away with it. His mum though knew he was going on sunbeds - why didnt she warn the salons? The last time i used them was 3 or 4 years ago. Now its fake tan all the way. There used to be one at the sports centre were i work - but they took it out 3 years ago due to the health scares that were going round at that time. |

Re: Advert for NOT going on sunbeds
Absolutely shocking. I don't know why anyone uses sunbeds these days.
Now that we have spray on tans like St. Tropz and Fake Bake there is no need for sunbeds. You can look gorgeous with one of these fake tans without turning into a leathery old handbag or suffering serious burns. :( |

Re: Advert for NOT going on sunbeds
Got to say I'm with Lilly on this one, why do people use sunbeds when they have been linked to serious diseases? Just get a spray tan and reduce the risk.

Re: Advert for NOT going on sunbeds
I use a sun bed around once maybe twice a week for a skin condition, (psoriasis). If I didn't I would be covered in lesions that are itchy, sore and unsightly.

Re: Advert for NOT going on sunbeds
A friend of mine went for a go on a sunbed once and the mole on her shoulder turned cancerous these beds can be dangerous and i would not entertain one.

Re: Advert for NOT going on sunbeds
The sun shower i use very occasionally only lets you put enough tokens in for 9 minutes-i assumed all of them did this.
Next time i will be getting a tan through this method will be before i get married-prob about twice in the week before the day, that will be it for this year. IMO it is scary/a big risk-i know someone who had a lump removed (for caution) after going on sunbeds.........thing is she still goes on them every week   |

Re: Advert for NOT going on sunbeds
I used them when i was younger but have`nt for the last 10 ish years, i had a scare recently but the mole turned out fine, really regret using them, apparently it increases the risk of skin cancer by 75%!!!!!!!now i`m even reluctant to stay in the sun for long.

Re: Advert for NOT going on sunbeds
He wasn't using the sun bed to get a tan. He was using it as a treatment for acne. I have heard doctors recommend it for that. The machine wouldn't have done more than 9 minutes in one go, probably didn't do more than 7, but he used it three times in one day. Now that is just downright stupid. Maybe he has learned his lesson now from the experience.
Knowing how much damage these things do I'm really surprised that they are so freely available for use. |
Re: Advert for NOT going on sunbeds
Although there is tighter restrictions on sunbed use nowadays, i think it is a hard one to police, the shop owners are out to make money so they really are`nt bothered.

Re: Advert for NOT going on sunbeds
I have never understood why people use sunbeds for their own vanity.
Is it really worth risking your health for a quick tan? Like others have said if you are that desperate for a tan there are loads of spray on tans available without the potential health problems. |
Re: Advert for NOT going on sunbeds
I think the sprays look dodgy meself:(
theres been plenty of times iv seen these women or young girls coming out of the shop looking like a orange!!!...sorry but that look looks bloody daft....lol whats wrong with pale skin anyway?? |
