Grangemouth refinery 'was terror bomb plot target' - The Daily Record

Was just talking to spug and he directed me to that. He said if the refinery had been targeted - it would have meant no more spug. He says if a bomb had gone off in there that it would have took out a 5 mile radius - which includes him.

It is a scary thought that - living near a refinery - wonder what it would be like if some of the companies in accy went up. I dont know what would happen if bash chemicals went up it would be bad enough hollands - just think of the smell hanging over rising bridge when the pies and puddings got burnt!!!!:eek:

Scary stuff just makes you wonder how bad things would have been if the plans hadn't been foiled. Makes you realise how hard the security services are working even though we don't hear about it.

Refinery is 500 acres, chemical plant next door is nearer 600 acres, 2 gas processing plants approx 400 acres, elastoplant approx 400 acres, what was the ici plant 500 acres approx = end result everything in a 5 mile radius would be vaporised. One consolation popping my clogs would be instantaneous i wouldnt feel a thing. They are all interconnected. oh and there is gas cylinders (storage) down on the port at least a dozen.

There was a problem once down in the chemical plant and the 10 ton metal lid was blown off one of the cylinders - they still havent found the lid they think the lid ended up in the forth buried. Oh and this was 18 years ago.

At least he would get the day off work ;)

We could all die tomorrow, can't live thinking about what if's. Your more likely to die in a car crash than a bomb. Unless you live next to a refinary that is :rolleyes:

Hes not working at the min neil. The only thing is it would take up the bond factory where he was working last time - now that would upset quite a few people, seeing as what he was doing then was parcelling up bottles of vodka and whisky....:D

refinaries,chemical plants etc have always been aware of such things, going back to the I.R.A. times, thats fact.;)
