The problem is that todays kids can make it happen without fear of punishment. :(

And if their parents haven't heard about it then there could be a lot of grief. How many will think their kids are just skiving?:(

'The use of information required for recording the facts and events of children's lives, for assessing the needs of children and monitoring their developmental progress is fundamental to good, safe practice and better outcomes.'

the law states that the school needs to have the childrens information..... someones gunna be in trouble!

shouldnt it be backed up with the education authority?

I have family who live on wordsworth road, they were waken at about 12 with the alarms and rang 999. Apparently the kids are off school because the firebrigade damaged the server when they extinguished the blaze and theyve lost all the kids contact info and are waiting for the off site back up from LCC Education offices in Preston.

Thing is the article in the Telegraph says it's unlikely the kids will go back until Monday 21st - thats the date they were due back anyway???
My youngest goes there and got to admit I thought he was trying to pull a fast one when he said they've got another week off cos of this fire, I mean it happened last Sunday, surely they've had time to sort it out as it was reported in the Telegraph as only a small fire in the staff room.

lancsdave 18-04-2008 10:28

Re: Mount carmel!.........fire

There is clearly excellent communication somewhere. Telegraph doesn't seem to know when they will go back, Observer says Friday and the school says ??????????????????? ( fill in as and when anybody officially finds out !!!! )

And 2BR are still making announcements that they will go back on Friday. Presumably they are getting the information from the school who seem to be in denial that the teachers are on strike.

MargaretR 19-04-2008 14:35

Re: Mount carmel!.........fire

A strike is a withdrawl of labour. If the school announced it was closed Thursday the teachers could claim pay for that day on the basis that they did not have a choice whether to work or not.
