Re: Swift Justice
I'm sorry but this is absolutely disgusting, how can anyone even apply the word justice to that sort of behaviour? If we did that in this country I would leave.
It's not even an eye for an eye, its a life for an eye basically... anyone who comes from a civilised country like England who can turn around and call that justice doesn't deserve to be here, and might as well go live in these countries if that is what they think justice is. Might as well call terrorism justice whilst we are at it, seen as thats just an attempt to hit out at the government of the targeted country most of the time. A few lives to prove the point, thats nothing I guess? Yes, it's ridiculous isn't it that I could suggest such a thing, but its not so different from this idea of 'justice' at all when you compare the ideology. Stupid idiots. |

On an added note, I was chatting to a really friendly woman in a cafe today, and she said she well and truly respected me for being a law student, she said it was a very respectful job :p obviously they appreciate lawyers more in Lancaster.

BUT U KNOW WHAT
it'll deter alot of ppl that will. karachi is one rough place and rough justice will only work there. ppl have been killed there for their mobile fone and less |
Re: Swift Justice
Think its over the top myself and agree it is barbaric.
I'm all for justice but this is taking it to the extreme! |
Re: Swift Justice
Don't remember much of an outcry from the whiney British lefties when Mandelas ANC thugs were putting necklaces(burning tyres) around political opponents necks to spread their message .
oops , sorry forgot , Mandela is a Saint , so it was okay |
Re: Swift Justice
agree its barbaric,no question, but i reckon the bottom line is- Less Muggings.

Re: Swift Justice
It is barbaric, but a sight more effective than anything we have tried here. I believe that this country is heading for this kind of vigilante behaviour, because too little is being done by the government to stop the muggings etc here. I relied on the police to sort a serious matter once, when I had waited long enough and nothing happened, a mate and myself sorted it out in our way, noone got seriously hurt or killed, but it sure stopped the cretins. Maybe pouring the petrol on and threatening to light it would have been more appropriate! Light it if they catch them again.

Re: Swift Justice
1. Cherie Blair is amazing
2. I have always thought of Mandela as a terrorist, and when there was a thread about how he struggles to get into America, I thought rightly so. You don't just let convicted terrorists wander into a country like America do you :p WE might in England though :p |
Re: Swift Justice
agree with number 2 blaze, but Cherie Blair makes me puke.:D;)

Re: Swift Justice
Talking about burning the prime minister is a bit risky isn't it in this day and age?
I think some people are taking the banter just a bit too far now, and also not really using much intelligence. Surely getting rid of the labour prime minister would be a very good reason to STAY in the country. |
Re: Swift Justice
OK, so you'd leave the country if we started dishing out summary justice to muggers, but you'd make an exception for ole Gord.
Right, I've still got the matches, somebody get the petrol and let's go find the boy David (and before you say, he's not a mugger, when he gets into power, he will be...he will be). |

If you could get away with setting someone on fire in this country I would leave, and I think I have very strong personal reasons for this even if I didn't have ethical reasons. |

Re: Swift Justice
I'm sorry, I just naturally find the topic of setting people on fire a sensitive issue. If you think back to just under 2yrs ago my friend lost his entire family to a fire before dying himself a short while later of cancer, and I still get a bit touchy over the image of fire in general. Sorry for being over sensitive about the issue.

Re: Swift Justice
if you drive over the tops between great harwood and rishton near a wooded area called the pines you can still see a chared post where a man was burned to a crisp so we have actualy had this behaviour here and very close to home
if i remember correctly it was over a dispute between two families but was at first treated as a racist attack but it was a long time ago in the late 80's or early 90's and i cant remember the details completely |
Re: Swift Justice
Is it that long ago? Didn't they build an image of what they thought he would look like?
|
Re: Swift Justice

they had tied the poor sod to the post and set him on fire which i suppose mimics some of the KKK's behaviour so no real surprise it was first treated as a racist attack cant find the story using google but theres a few other similar murders around accrington and not so long ago either got to admit though i would love to see a pedo or drug dealer rolling around on fire trying to put himself out because their pain would be nothing compared to what they had caused and what better way to arrive in hell than already on fire |
Re: Swift Justice
Accyman much as I despise the paedophiles and drug dealers I just could not wish to see anybody rolling around on fire.

Only this morning it was stated in the Mail that they have started using the necklace again in South Africa, this time over employment. Must be to much to ask for these people to become civilised:mad:
