7 year old child starved to death
I read with disbelief that a seven year old has starved to death in Birmingham.
Poor little mite. Allegedly she and her brothers and sisters were fighting for food off a bird table. How on earth can this happen in this day and age. But then again do we know our neighbours? I know all my neighbours, and we look out for each other. My elderly next door neighbour has my phone number, and she knows that if she ever needs us, whatever time it is day or night she only has to ring. But how many others know there neighbours? The link for the story of the seven year old is here Quote: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...eft-birds.html |
Re: 7 year old child starved to death
i do hope no one starts having a go at the social services because as we all know it is very hard for them to deal with an urgent case like this when the social services are already stretched to the limit victimising decent parents
whoever the social team were that dealt with this case should be sacked for incompitence the parents should be hung |
Re: 7 year old child starved to death
its interesting that the paper mentions victoria climbe as she is the reason the government reviewed their child protection policies and legislation which SHOULD if they were properly implemented have stopped this from happening..

If they could make themselves a priority we wouldn't hear of such cases? Of course some poor child will slip through the net, but I bet this is only one of similar cases of child neglect that has been 'discovered', during the past few days and for some reason this one is publicised in the media, it happens all the time, why this one and not the one before, or the next one to come? A caring society? Don't make me laugh! We only care when we are involved! |
Re: 7 year old child starved to death
Stories like this beggar belief, never mind Social Services surely it must have been noticed at school that these poor mites were suffering. It is about time society took notice and acted on their suspicions.

Re: 7 year old child starved to death
They'd been taken out of school. No-one had seen them for weeks.

Re: 7 year old child starved to death
I think that thos of us who are parents ourselves would have gone short in order to see our kids were well looked after. Cases like this begger belief irrespective whether or knot the social services were involved, this should not happen today, these parents need putting away for a very long time, but we all know they won't:(

Re: 7 year old child starved to death
There's no reason at all why anyone should starve to death in this country. I wonder if this was something intentional but gone wrong.

That is horrible!!!! How can you do that to someone?!

Re: 7 year old child starved to death
The couple are charged with "neglect" but there has to be more to it than that. One of the children is a 12 year old boy. He is old enough to have gone out, got food, alerted neighbours, teachers, whatever - if he had been able to. It sounds more like calculated cruelty than just neglect. I wonder at what sort of, so-called, human being can treat children that way.

Re: 7 year old child starved to death
whilst i have no love fer the useless social services, its irrelevant to me, Parents like this have NO FEAR of retribution from the system cos its too bloody soft. thats where the buck stops to me.

Re: 7 year old child starved to death
That's true of every sort of crime, isn't it? Nobody gets a proper punishment for wrongdoing. Lock someone up for murder and he'll start bleating that you have violated his "human rights".

Re: 7 year old child starved to death
This is a very strange case .. seems everything was OK up 'til Christmas, then things changed. Will reserve judgement until there are more facts here; too late to help that poor little mite though .. sob.
