not really newsworthy these days.?

read this afternoon that n explosive device went off in a resturant in Exeter at lunchtime, another was also found n made safe, apparently they have the little ****** responsible in hospital, just read on ceefax it was a muslim convert with n english name, who comes from plymouth n has a history of mental illness. on the 6-00 news tonight i waited for a report on this, it came about 6-25 n lasted about 60 secs:confused: whats puzzling me is - this item has become to regular to report or what? anything of this nature has always had top priority on the news as far as i remember. or is it because the guys english?

I say this event has not been front of news stuff because he is English.. examples are the bloke that blew up people in brixton, soho, and brick lane was a loner English nutter but little is told about him.. also last year the BNP bloke that was found with primed home made bombs in Birmingham ..what of him ???

The british muslim convert, the so-called shoe bomber has not been re-told over and over again unlike some.

I recall when the television people were invited (I presume by the police) to film a raid on some household to arrest suspected bombers.. these people were proved innocent .. but what happend to thier lives in the aftermath?.. no reports.. no one knows.

The media pick and choose the information they give.. if they don't like it they don't report it.. simple as that!

i think the reason is that the only person he injured was himself. it was a small device and he most likely wasnt part of something big. just a loony by himself kinda thing.

That sounds more likely. We've had a loony with a bomb in Accy and I don't recall it making headline news. He parked his car next to ours and we couldn't get our car for ages as the police cordoned off the car park. At least he didn't manage to blow our car up.

That must have been so scary for you really willow, think i would be bricking myself in that situation, knowing what was going on and being so close to it really

We didn't really think about it at the time - more annoyed that we couldn't get our car!

There was another time when there was a robot bomb disposal creature in Union Street and a twerp we know went and sneaked up the Arndale car park (police had closed it off) to get a 'good view' in case it did explode. We pointed out to him afterewards that if it had been a big bomb and had gone off he may not have lived to tell the tale. As it turned out it wasn't a bomb but it could have been.

i'm with you on this, think that is the reason, the no-one got hurt only him, don't really stand up to me. after all it did go off in n eating place, theres loads of mileage in potential damage their for the press to have a ball, they usually do.

I think they're only interested in stories that they can sensationalise cashy, its more like how much kudos the reporter can get out of the storey, doesn't have the same ring "this is Joe Blogs for the BBC, Exeter"

It’s becoming more newsworthy by the hour. The press will soon go to town.
