Sheer Bliss!
Saturday at 4:30pm on the 7th June 2008 on BBC1 is the start of wall-to-wall football on telly for a few weeks.
Oh the joy! The bliss! I suppose we will get the anti-football (pro soaps) whingers moaning about too much ‘football on TV’ and it ought not be allowed etc. Well please give it a rest. Euro 2008 is only on for a few weeks every four years. Soaps are on practically every evening the whole year round. We who enjoy football don’t begrudge your soaps even if they are much more wall-to-wall than football ever is, so just learn to live with it like we do. |
Re: Sheer Bliss!
Shame on you for posting this in General Chat :D
I don't watch soaps or sport - should I complain that I dont get value for money from my licence fee? |
Re: Sheer Bliss!
The perfect distraction from life changing exams :D

What is bliss for some.....is misery for others.

And you're the first to whinge over wasting public money. The BBC are sending over a 100 staff out to that s**thole south of Dover in order to cover this tournament, at a cost running in to several million. Who gives a dam who wins? It seems to me the money would have been far better spent on televising lower league action in the coming season and putting money into clubs like Stanley rather than chucking it away on this Euro garbage. |

Soaps, reality TV, make overs, buying a house abroad to name just a few, are misery for me. But you don’t hear me whinging about them – I know how to use the channel changer. I accept that if there is a programme that I don’t like on TV there are plenty others to choose from for FREE. Unlike some people I’m not so arrogant that I expect the world to revolve around me and my desires. I go by the maxim of “Live and let live.” For more years than I care to remember women have forever been moaning about “too much sport on TV” and in particular football when the World Cup comes around and now the European Cup. Not a peep when Wimbledon comes round though or snooker. |
Re: Sheer Bliss!
I quite like watching footie and you will never find a soap on im my house! :D

Oh the joy and the bliss? Are you taking the p***?
Footer morning and night may be just your delight But for some of us it's nothing short of the pits. Still it isn't for long and I feel I'd be wrong To deny you your pleasure in such a small measure. I'm not a great fan of soap op'ras, I can Either take 'em or leave 'em. Well, who could believe 'em? And Wimbledon's really not my choice. Ideally I rather watch drama or p'rhaps Panorama. But if footie sport is, for you, the right sort Of telly to view then I'll leave it to you. Go ahead and feel free, take no notice of me. Watch the football, my boy, settle down and enjoy! ;) |
Re: Sheer Bliss!
shouldnt this thread be in the sports section???
GET IT OFF!!!!!......................................... LOL.......;) |
Re: Sheer Bliss!
Wall to wall football comes just in time .... one of the greatest Stanley Cup finals ever is still going, but should be over just in time for football to take over. If the Penguins win the next game in the final series, and it goes to game seven, that would be perfect.

Re: Sheer Bliss!
considering the "Colonel Blimp" attitudes shown in many postings on this sight , I find it a bit odd that folks would be interested in watching a bunch of foriegners in a championship where no british teams were good enough to qualify .

I’m a fan of football first and foremost with heavy leanings towards Manchester United, and an interest in the Rovers and the Stanley. Meaning that if the opportunity arises to watch national teams in action I revel in it even if England or any of the home countries are not in action. I will not be supporting any one particular country except any opponents of France. Are you tired of living? |

Any culture that eats frogs legs and snails has to be suspect. Apart from that it was Charles de Gaul (he with the huge conk) who kept us out of Europe with his constant Non when we could have influenced the way the EU developed had we been able to join in the very early days. There’s gratitude for you after we twice dragged the French out from under the German jackboot. |
