High times for medicinal marijuana

I just hope that it doesnt get like that here if the powers that be decide to legalise it.

this bit made me smile

With more than 200 dispensaries now operating legitimately, the street dealers are all but obsolete and the state is happy because it collects the taxes.

i have in the past 'had a smoke' with friends (go on take the karma) if it IS legalised for medicinal purposes then isnt that a good thing? i know a few people who have arthiritus who smoke it and they say it makes the pain more bearable(sp?) so would it really be a bad thing?

the BBC is being a bit elastic with the facts here , true , California voters passed a referendum a few years back to allow "medicinal marijuana" the intent being it was for patients with severe pain , but typically it was abused and now most of the shops have been closed down .
One other fact that the BBC fails to mention , marijuana is still covered by Federal laws and the 'feds' are acting ......see attached ...http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/articl...&sn=005&sc=452

I personally think they should provide it on prescription as a medicinal drug for the people it helps. Not provide it in shops or anything like that but on the NHS properly. After all LSD is a proper drug when it's used properly and illegal when it isn't.

The really interesting bit about this was:
the street dealers are all but obsolete and the state is happy because it collects the taxes.

Could that be a clue on how to get rid of the criminal drug rings?

Couldn't agree more Willow, if it help somone with a serious illness why note let them have it on prescription. I have to say that I have never used any illegal substance of any kind, beer and fags were enough for me, but some of the stuff that is available today is far stronger than years ago, according to reports, if it was controlled for medical purposes then it would save sick people getting a criminal record
