just a thought , he was probably "fast-tracked " and missed the lessons on " I am not special", "co-operation with others" and " how to be a team-player "

Re: So much so for the police stamping out racism
If this is true then it's appalling but we do need to hear both sides of the story before we can draw a conclusion.

Re: So much so for the police stamping out racism
Just a thought do you think it might be performance related and nothing to do with his colour (another one jumps on the money train).

Re: So much so for the police stamping out racism
There have been instances of people who do not get jobs or do not get promotions because they are simply not up to the job and they claim racial discrimination and get compensation, which itself causes racism because it makes employers afraid of not promoting someone of a different racial background.

Re: So much so for the police stamping out racism
seems strange to me he never went public before the newspaper allegations surfaced, this is a case of lets wait n see i think. whilst racism is abborhent, so is playing the racism card as a " get out of jail free" card. so until we know which!!!

Re: So much so for the police stamping out racism
Can't see the problem myself. The government are trying to put through plans to make discrimination legal.

Why are we allowing racist laws to be passed?

People should be judged on one thing and one thing only when applying for a job - and that is their ability to do it.

Re: So much so for the police stamping out racism
We are going to end up with lots of people doing jobs they clearly aren't up to just so the goverment can reach it's targets!
It's ridiculous! Like willow said the only criteria for getting a job should be who is best qualified not whether they can make up numbers for a minority group. |

Funny how they never ever complained when being promoted year after year. They (everybody) needs to be told that they cannot all be Chief Constable/Prime Minister/Admiral or whatever it is.

What's more, the proposals are a real insult to the many women and members of ethnic minorites who simple get on with their job/career/life and don't play the race/gender card. My wife arrived in this country 23 years ago and has built up a successful career for herself. She would be appalled to think that even the smallest element of her success was down to her race or gender, rather than hard work and ability. I really do think this government have lost the plot! |

I just cannot fathom how anti discriminatory legislation which openly discriminates is a step in the right direction. |
Re: So much so for the police stamping out racism
Can't really comment as to whether this case is racist or not, without more evidence.
It could very well be, or it could just be a case of sour grapes. I suspect there are racists in the police, just as there are in every profession, but thankfully there are laws in place which make it illegal, if brought to light. Not really a race issue, but this recent story certainly highlights religious intolerance at work within our police force. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/ukne...irmingham.html |
Re: So much so for the police stamping out racism
There is racism everywhere................you don't have to be black or asian (these seem to be the most prevelant "minorities" screaming racism)..............it's about time they started to realise that it might be that they are not up to the job.

Re: So much so for the police stamping out racism
just a thought , but i think some 'white' resentment comes from the fact that 'ethnics' cant be trusted to join into the democratic political process without religion or tribalism rearing its ugly head , something most 'northern europeans' got rid off generations ago , sorry if it sounds paternalistic , but probably lots of English folks thought the Irish in Ulster during the troubles in the 60s/70s/80s were no better or different than Mugabes supporters in the present time

Re: So much so for the police stamping out racism
I think the one thing that shows this farce up for what it is, is the fact that this police officers is being supported by "The Black Police Officers Association" now how racist is that, you can bet your bottom dollar that if there was a White Police Oficers Association there would be hell to pay
|
Re: So much so for the police stamping out racism
There shouldn't need to be a "black" anything or an "Asian" anythuing and until we treat everyone equally and just have a "police officers association" for black white and sky blue pink with yellow dots on we will always have racism.
As for that policeman and the Christian preachers it sounds like he was more anti-American than anything, but was he really as aggressive as they make out or was he merely advising them for their own good that handing out Christian leaflets and trying to convert Muslims is a pretty dumb idea unless you really understand what happens if a Muslim converts to Christianity. |

Re: So much so for the police stamping out racism
Here's a quote from the home page of the National Black Police Association website:
"The definition of "Black" does not refer to skin colour. The emphasis is on the common experience and determination of the people of African, African-Caribbean and Asian origin to oppose the effects of racism." If black isn't a colour, what is it? If they are determined to oppose the effects of racism why set up an association purely for black police officers? Surely this is a racist organisation. |
