Had it happened here, the bloke who shot the driver would probably be in the cells awaiting a Court appearance in the morning. :(

No, if it happened here, we'd just shoot some innocent Brazillian who happened to be walking past.

I would think the first thing they would do is issue a fixed fine for speeding and make sure the tax disc is not out of date.

The difference here is.....the guy was caught in the act. I think they got it right.....no costly court appearances, no arguments about his Human Rights(he wasn't thinking of the Human Rights of his victims was he?).......no big fat fees for some barrister.....no cost for keeping him in jail for a period of time....no cost of paying him and his family benefits when he comes out of clink. Hope he is with the martyrs now.....and they are kicking the proverbial out of him.

Armed police storm down and shout "stop" (probably several times), Im sorry, I know this was tragic, but even if you cant speak the language of the country you're in, if a load of armed police officers point guns at you and shout - you're gonna stop. This guy bails as fast as he can away from them. Even he should have known that they're not gonna shoot him simply for being here on an expired visa (or whatever it was). I have sympathy for his family, I really do, and I think its tragic - but not exactly unpredictable given the circumstances - and I think the PC brigade have gone too far. Our police need to be able to do their job with reasonable checks and balances, not an out-cry from the PC Brigade everytime something happens - it just means more red-tape for them, and the same bunch will be complaining later that the Police dont do their jobs any more.

Wrong. He was sitting on a tube train, when they shot him. Before that, he had walked into the station, picked up his paper, gone through the barriers in the normal way and then ran across the platform when he saw his train arrive. At no point did anyone instruct him to stop.

That's probably because Sir Ian Blair said at a press conference, "As I understand the situation the man was challenged and refused to obey police instructions." This was later found to be not the case.

That is a good start for a pack of lies, easy to admit the truth later if needed ;)
