Another company to the wall

The Lancashire Fireplaces (formerly cheshire fireplaces) company at stubbins near ramsbottom has closed apparently, they have also been removed from the corgi register for incompetence, if you know anyone who had work done by this firm, it is worth having it checked, we have seen some of thier 'work' and what we saw wasnt good.

Well, if their work was sub-standard it is no surprise that they have folded.
With the current financial climate I can see quite a few good firms going under, through no fault of their own.

I was just about to post a comment along the very same lines. It’s hard enough for firms to solvent when they are providing a top rate service.

To carry out sub-standard work and possibly put a persons life on the line is just criminal. Happen it is for the best that this firm will cease trading.

I always say that a Corgi registration is a licence to print money and not much to do with the quality of work you get.

All these bits of paper don't make a bit of difference in any trade, its all down to the tradesman in question if you get a good job done or not

Your quite right Derek, I can remember on a number of occasions in the 70s when the firms that I worked for took on these so call 6 month wonders, I served 5 years as an happyrentice, this was on top of taking GCE woodwork in the fifth form. The only problem was that they thought they knew it all. The funniest example was when this guy cut a slot out of the face of a front door to fit a mortice lock and was putting a patch over it just 2 minutes before the gaffer sacked him:D
