what do you have to do to get what you want?
 

Well there i was today minding my own business when out of nowhere i heard

"psst... come here"

i looked around and found the voice to be coming from an antiques shop

"yeah you ....psst .... quick come here"

after a while i realized that this was the same thing us women hear when a nice pair of shoes has just been put onto the sale shelves....

no shoes to be seen but a gorgeous old partners desk from george v period

this may seem sad but i love grotty old banged up (ahem) furniture and i wanted it
i rang the other half and offfered just about everything but my life but he would not see any sense at all - we had no room to put it :( ... aparently- so he's going to be on the wagon for a while if you know what i mean ;)

so what kind of things do you offer to get what you want
(maybe i should have put this in the over 18's) lol

mm it was more the room in the house - i suggested selling the dining room table we already have - but no ... he might get fedup of my moaning eh ?

Just keep on about it till he crumbles, like BB and his lovely lady my late hubby and I got things if we could afford if not tough we had to go without.

Just cut the other half out of the loop. Seems to work at ours.

If you want it buy it, arrange for the other stuff to be disposed of. He might whinge at you for a day or so, if he throws the rattle right out of the pram you will have to resort to your own measures :eek::D:D

I 'ain't got another half Keetah, but if I had (mmmm yeh, maybe should be in the over 18's ;) ). If that doesn't work, would do a Catherine Tate :-

"Can I 'av it ?"

"Darling, wouldn't fit"

"Yeh, but can I 'av it ?"

"Can we afford it ?"

"Can I 'av it ?"

"Doesn't match the decor"

"I know, but can we 'av it ?"

"I don't like it"

"Can we 'av it though?"

"Can we think about it ?"

"Thought about it, Can we 'av it ?"

I think my fella has learnt quickly that there is no point arguing if ive got my heart set on something!;)
It leads to a quiet life for him so i think hes happy!!

I dont have to ask anyone if I can get something, its great (but saying that my moneys normally spent on the boys when I have a bit spare anyway) But as for the single / married thing, I did the marriage and it didnt work out so at the moment I would say that I much prefer the single life, but in saying that my thoughts on this subject may change in years to come

I have to say I like that one.

Keetah, I hope you get your desk....there are many times in life I have asked myself the same questions Willow uses.....'No' has come up...and I haven't bought the object of my desires......and frequently I have regretted it.

and I know this is a wander...but Loz, being married is much like life......there are some good bits and some bad bits......you have to work at it to make it work, but then nothing good comes without some input and sacrifice.....how do I know...well come October, me and the old feller will have been hitched for 42 years.

Polly, the point of the thread was Keetah trying to find out what we as individuals would do to get our own way.....To what lengths would we go?

If you look at threads this way, there are a lot of seemingly pointless threads...but questions get asked....and we, say what we would do in similar situations.
