I love forget me nots, but if you're not careful, they spread like mad, we used to have loads, but I'm afraid I got rid of them all, I got fed up of them taking over the garden.

Must admit Buttonsmum, they do seem to have increased since last year, but do look really pretty lining the edge of the lodge at the moment :-

I like daisies too, Panther. :)

We get the dreaded clover and the horrible dandelions in our grass. :(

good efforts there kate, nice piccys,

we lost our forget me nots when we had the conservatory built. They do spread like wildfire!

My weeds dont last very long at the mo and certainly dont get chance to flower in the back garden but I do like Forget me nots and Daisys.

Did the blossom not use to last longer though, we had around here in May but it only seems to last a couple of weeks.

The Chinese are using diggers to get shut of their weeds ( different weed I know, well algae in fact ) at least we don’t have that to contend with.

Dunno, think they are trying to clear up the mess before the Olympics start, for the sailing events and that.

Don't mention weeds!
We have done our garden up and planted loads of seeds hoping for a lovely colourful garden by now and all we got was bloody nettles and dandelions:(
We have had to dig everything up and are now trying to grow some grass which is semi successful so far but more weeds!!
Anybody got any tips for two novice gardeners?

Weeds are always stronger than the plants you really want aren't they?

Mind you, I do love forget-me-nots even if they are a weed.

It's not weeds that are driving me up the wall though. It's pests. I am currently being outwitted by slugs which are devouring the leaves of my pear tree. I thought I'd got rid of them all but new ones keep materialising.

If you're looking to grow grass and form a lawn, you'll never do it. A much better idea is to buy the grass in rolls and lay it on top of weed free, prepared soil.

Some of it has started to come through,we were going to get some more seeds to cover the remaining area but we were thinking of doing what you say if it doesn't work.
Does it cost a lot?
Thanks:)

Re: Weeds, weeds and more weeds.

Just seen an item on Breakfast TV this morning about the Laylandi tree/shrub. Seems that this plant, which is loved and hated in equal proportions, is being attacked by aphids which is starting to kill it off especially down south, it leaves the shrubs looking all brown and flakey, look awful to me:(

Bury a yoghurt pot so teh top is level with teh soil and put some beer in it. Slugs absolutely can't resist beer!
