I don't remember many jugglers and clowns at the seaside, but I do remember the Punch and Judy shows. Unfortunatly, these days we don't have P & J on the grounds that it glorifies domestic violence. I wander if a Britcliffe and Jones show would make a good substitute?

The leader of the council does tend to be photographed re events organised by the council.

If any other business were advertising an event it is likely that the manager would be photographed.

Hope the weather bucks up for weekend.:)

No donkeys or sand but there will be

Deckchairs
A jazz band
Jugglers
Clowns
Candyfloss and popcorn

They tried to get punch & judy but they are ridiculously expensive!

Anyway, it's just to add a bit of colour to the town centre.

why bother with punch and judy

get a live show of jeremy kyle if you want to watch a tale of domestic abuse , we got enough chavs to provide a full days entertainment and i would gladly sit in a deck chair and watch shows like " she left me with teh kids but stole my giro " , " your not the real father of my baby but your guess is as good as mine " and the old favourite "she dissed my tracksuit so i slept with her sister "

That is always the problem you might have when you organise an event like this months in advance.

Or we continue burning fuel at a rate of knots and global warming kicks in and we end up with a sahara like climate[1] :D

Oh come on, you've got to at least give people credit for trying to organise stuff.

I know the weather's rubbish but what the heck, at least there are some people out there trying to brighten things up.

Re: Beside Seaside

If it wasn't for the 'Atlantic Conveyor' also known as the Gulf Stream, we would have the same climate as Siberia. If you learnt about convection currents in physics at school you will know how it works.
Global warming could turn it off.

Another climate factor which may affect us is 'Pole Reversal'
When North Becomes South: New Clues to Earth's Magnetic Flip-Flops
When (note not If) that happens it will be pot luck for everybody as to what climate they end up with.

PS that is if you survive the catostrophic natural disasters that go with it :D

I was going to say that, Gayle.

Some people just will not say a good word about this council under any circumstances.

Organising things cannot be easy.

You can't really blame people for lack of enthusiasm when events like this are given the status of a PB publicity stunt with undertones of 'votecatching'. He should be told to keep his mug out of it for a while.

The real publicity and praise should go to the organisers.

Good point, hon. Even if you live in a part of the world where, to say the least, the weather is a tad unpredictable, it doesn't mean that you have to stop organizing outdoor events.

Like I said in an earlier post, he will be photographed a lot because he's the leader. When any company organises something it's always the manager that is asked for a quote or photo.

If we were a Labour led council you could be swooning over weekly photos of Graham Jones.

The practice of 'single person publicity' is wrong - gives the impression of a dictatorship.

I don't consider any politician to be 'swoonable'

I don't like the self publicist impression he provokes.
Perhaps he needs a new Google Page Ranking person because the present one is overdoing it

I thought it was a big fat waste of time, when I went out at around 2pm there was nothing going on except 2 women valiantly trying to tie balloon animals in a force 6 gale and a load of empty wet deckchairs blowing across Broadway. Obviously not helped by the awful weather, and from what I can gather retail takings down about 6% compared to previous week. Please don't do it again, I will be out of a job !

She won't go past a puddle without jumping in it.
