Its here at last chaps

Well it had to come didn't it, make-up for men, yes chaps you can now go out and buy your very own purpose made cosmetics for the discerning chap who wants to look that bit special for the ladeeeeees. You can have your very own Guy Liner, or Manscara, I really did have to check it wasn't April fools day when I so this on Breaky TV this morning. Somehow I don't think its going to catch on with the likes of myself, cashy, Jam Butty, Royboy and Less, but there again I maybe wrong:rolleyes:. Well there is one thing we could always ask for tips from the lasses on here about how to apply our Lippy:D:rolleyes:

Men and makeup is nothing new
Men's skin care / men's grooming: A History of Men’s grooming; Men makeup and skin care
Never heard of wode? (ancient celts)
or eye kohl? (ancient egyptians)
or the white arsenic face powder that Georgian dandies used?

The nearest that I ever came to male cosmetics was in my teens when I used, what would probably be called hair gel today, Silvikrin hair stuff. It wasn’t as greasy as Brylcreme. I ended up just using plain water as it cost nothing and worked just as well for me. Still does.

Of course there was the make up for scout gang shows and for “Pirate’s Show” for orphans at our ports of call but that’s not quite the same is it. There was nothing quite like making a nine years old kid walk the plank at the point of a wooden sword. Not into shark infested waters, you understand but a paddling pool with a dummy shark.

There is only one way that I would ever wear some lippy and that is by transfer during an anatomical juxtaposition of two orbicular muscles in a state of contraction.

;) but on the bright side if we all use our cosmetics we can go to the toilet all the time to top up on our make up to add a bit of foundation here and there :P revenge on them women that always took like 4 hours getting ready came out and looked like a tangerine. But as men we where not to tell them theat they look like one so we just walked and agree'd :P

I used Brylcreme JB, in those good old days of short back and sides, the only time I've worn make-up was in my teens with St Mary's Amateurs, mind you I didn't mind coming home after a night out covered with lippy, when you woke up the morning after you knew you'd had a good night:D

What's wrong with fellas wearing a bit of make up?

Fellas are taking better care of their skin these days.

Soap and swarfega are out and face wash and moisturiser are in if you don't want to see in your 50th birthday looking like you've had a few bad winters. :p

If us girls get a spot we cover it up with concealer so why should fellas have to walk round with Mount Etna on their chin?

I'm not into fellas made up like Lily Savage but a little bit of St Tropez, concealer, tamed eyebrows......why not?

What about that pale blue stuff with an antiseptic smell? I can’t remember the name.

Then in days of old before Swarfega there was Cresolvent I think it was called. It was pink, I think.

Before that it was good old carbolic soap and a scrubbing brush.

Very true Cashy.

Cleanliness is the most important thing.

I would rather a fella smelt like a Turkish brothel than a long distance lorry driver.:D

I think opinions on make up for men vary depending on how old you are.

I think men over 35 think a bit of foundation makes you Julian Clary and men under 35 are more open to the idea......not that I like to make generalisations of course. :p:D

Spot on Lilly, skin is skin .. no matter what sex. Nothing wrong with moisturiser ... saves those patches of dry skin on yer fella.

Men get dry lips too .. so use the lip balm please so no cut lips during kissing sessions . LOL.

Please use antiperspirants (not true about natural body smells, honest) and how do you expect us to find delectable lips with full beards .. really ...

Don't go along with eye shadows and mascara for men though ... might take a little longer, even though you supposed to be the peacock of the species.

Please keep yer toe nails cut and hard skin removed too ... oh, and wash hair more often, clip nostril hairs and ear hairs ... small things like this are off putting to us opposite sex.

I like male facial hair when it is trimmed, washed and soft

I suppose instinctively I see it as something to grab hold of to drag him into a cave with- using any other part of him would be counterproductive;)

Another way to screw money out of the unsuspecting fools who fall for it, is it not bad enough that women spend fortunes on all this stuff without men doing the same?? I am beginning to wonder if all these lotions and potions are not making peoples skin worse!!
