£706.000 to be exact!, c'mon, dont ya think thats a bit too much, he only served 13 months!!! I know he deserves some compensation but £706.00??:eek:
Its just like the case of madeline, with robert murat, he got over £600.000!....WHY?, he never got convicted!

he will probably never work again, so this will be all the money he has to live on. I don't think they will ever find a happy medium when it comes to compensation. Like women who are raped get their compo rduced by up to a third if they have been drinking alcohol, just not right

justice comes at a price Panther, convicted not - the guys life was ruined, ya can't put a sum on what he went through, i'm sure you would "sing a differant tune" if it was one of yours.

The man was "fixed up" by the Police for a terrible murder...the newspapers absolutely slaughterd him..his name was mud, If anyone had a choice then I doubt any amount of money would persuade them to go through the same thing.

That's right. He was vilified in the press. As you say, his name was mud and mud sticks. Who knows what kind of life he will be able to lead now?

This must have had an awful affect on his physical and mental well-being and will continue to affect his future jobs, relationships and state of mind for the rest of his life.

I don't begrudge him the money....although it can't change what happened it will go some way to support him when he can't work.

Agree he deserves compo. However, something else occurs to me...imagine if Accyweb had been around in 1992 when he was convicted...there would have been a whole string of posts on here demanding that he be hung, boiled in oil and all sorts of other grisly fates...and all for an innocent man.

There certainly would. These things were said in the papers. People were also saying and thinking awful things about him. His name will always be associated with Rachel Nickell and there'll be some who'll still taunt him for it.

This is why he deserves the money.

He does deserve it, but at least he still has his life too. If the death penalty were in force, he'd be six feet under now; a posthumous pardon is no use to anybody!

True. This is why we'll never have the death penalty again.

Colin Stagg, Barry George, Stefan Kiszco....they'd all be dead now.

Even in today's world with DNA evidence, people can still be wrongly convicted.

The frightening thing is, all the ones named on this thread that are innocent were originally found guilty by a jury ... the powers that be must have laid it on pretty thick and even lied to get these people convicted...but they are never prosecuted for perjury.
