Getting drunk saved my life!!
Two-hundred-and-seventy people died in the Lockerbie plane bombing nearly 20 years ago. As new questions are raised over the conviction of the bomber, one man continues to marvel at his lucky escape from the doomed flight.
At Heathrow Airport on 21 December 1988, Jaswant Basuta checked in for Pan Am flight 103 to New York in plenty of time. "After all," he thought, "you can't be too careful - what with the Christmas rush and everything." Tomorrow was an important day. The next morning, the 47-year-old car mechanic was due to start a new job and his wife, Surinder, was coming to the airport to collect him. I wonder how he felt afterwards. I imagine I would be either giddy or sick with shock, probably both!

Re: Getting drunk saved my life!!
Very lucky, I once missed a plane crash, was coming up the M1 heading for Leeds and at the last min decided i'd had enough for the day and was going to park up for the night and carry on early the next morning, I'd only been parked up about half an hour when the plane crashed on the motorway bank near midlands airport, I would have been about that area if I'd carried on, I couldn't stop thinking about what could have happened for weeks after, still do when I hear of any plane crash, I know it's not the same not being on it but can have same consequences
