Well it was supposed to be about the merits of hemp :D Mind you, if I find some heel cure I'll be happy.

Used to use Hemp twine in the M.N. when splicing larger ropes ( e.g. Manila ) The Hemp was wrapped around the ends of the individual strands of the larger rope to stop it fraying until the splice was completed.

Other than that I've never come accross the stuff :)

It's the place of origin, Nîmes in France. The cloth is a type of serge and was referred to as 'serge de Nîmes' which became anglicised to denim.

An old colleague of mine used to say I was a mine of useless information! :D I never seem to do very well with the AccyWeb Trivia quiz though.
