Re: Just heard on news

mthead 12-09-2008 08:32

Re: Just heard on news

Yeah does seem strange:confused: Especially as Empress st isnt really a through road like countess st,well nevermind we may here something on local news later if it was anything serious.

Re: Just heard on news

It said on radio news that there has been a serious assault, it mentioned Empress St and also mentioned India Street as well. Since I'm not from Accy I don't know if these streets are near each other.

Mick 12-09-2008 08:41

Re: Just heard on news

From the bbc:

A 19-year-old man is critically ill in hospital after being stabbed in east Lancashire.
Police were called to a disturbance in Empress Street in Accrington in the early hours of Friday.
The victim was found by officers with a stab wound to his chest and was taken to hospital where he has undergone emergency surgery. Two men from Accrington, aged 19 and 23, have been arrested on suspicion of wounding and inquiries are continuing.

I was walking through when a reporter was there earlier. She asked me if I had seen or heard anything there last night but as I don't live on the street, I hadn't. Sounds like a nasty business though.

I have been told that it was a 'noise' dispute. One person was playing loud music and someone said they were going to quieten him down for good.

And from the report in the telegraph says, it would seem all the neighbours did was lock their doors and wait for it to end, They were scared at what was going on. The police only being called (apparently)when the guy was found lying in the street. Does no one do anything to prevent an incident happening any more?

BERNADETTE 12-09-2008 21:32

I got told it was four blokes beating one up and the guy who got stabbed tried to help

Re: Just heard on news

Whatever it was that happened, they saved his life at Royal Blackburn Hospital, then transferred him to Blackpool Vic. This lad is fighting for his life. And if he's been transferred to Blackpool Vic, then that tells me that it's his heart.

Lets just hope he pulls through eh.........he's only 19

Playing music at an unacceptable level seems to incur the wrath of the near neighbour these days with unacceptable levels of violence. Now i'm older i can see were their wrath is coming from as when we were younger we didn't have much thought for our neighbours but thankfully they must have understood or else we would not have still been talking over the fence. But these days....turn it down or in the words of the only decent Oasis lyric ever ,it keeps me up all night'.Should have rang the old bill before dishing out street justice....unless they had & got no joy wich these days is'nt unusual.

Not on about reporting loud music, although this is a particular bug bear of mine round where i live...and not just me, but my teenage sons, who enjoy their music, but at an acceptable level. They only like "loud" music when they play gigs lol!

But the fact that no one bothered to report this escalating episode.

I am one of those people that reports everything that goes on round here. Trying to nip things in the bud. It's got to the point these days when I say when i call "has any one else reported this incident", and no one ever has. But the people that never do, are always the first to complain when things go wrong.

North West Cardiac Centre if my memory serves me correct. Mick will know, it is also where they do major lung surgery. A very impressive unit, seperate from the main hospital

forceten 12-09-2008 22:36

Re: Just heard on news

Royal Blackburn sends all it's major heart patients to Blackpool Vic. Royal Blackburn do the angiograms and the TOES, and the pacemakers and the pacemaker battery changes, but everything else goes to Blackpool

Was surprised last night when son texted me to say had just had first lesson on Krav Maga ... uh !! .. what is that ?? Martial Arts thingy .. did do jujitsu when younger, but not an aggressive lad. Looked up on You Tube, is a defence against weapon violence plus fitness regime. Think maybe is something to do with the fact he cycles through Moss Side every day on his way to work. Did think at first he had been watching too much James Bond, particularly a remark that he will be fit for Mosad in 12 months.

YouTube - Krav Maga on Discovery Channel

Sure that more and more of these 'arts' will encounter more enrolment during the next decade. Sad .. :(

Sorry but the ICU at Royal Blackburn saved my mums life over christmas, and also, this young lad had his life saved by the cardiac team at Royal Blackburn, before being transferred to Blackpool Vic for more specialised treatment.

I have only praise for Royal blackburn i was rushed in with suspected heart attack earlier this year. All the cardiac team that i was under where marvelous I was informed though that i might need transfering to blackpool vic if i needed surgery.
ive never known blackpool vic to be a overflow hospital for royal blackburn or as it once was BRI

The stab victim's life was saved by a junior cardiologist at royal Blackburn hospital who removed blood from around his heart by inserting a tube while he was just about to die. The patient was then transferred to Blackpool for open heart surgery to close the stab wound in his heart. The cardiologist at Blacburn is a hero.

yes they all are from the paramedics to the peaple that give blood

I do hope the lad pulls through ok from his. I bet that is one Doctor who feels good about himself, I wonder if he has stopped smiling yet - it must give you a really special feeling to save someone's life live that.

Now what do we all think the punishment should be for sticking a knife into someone's heart?

Don't forget that just possessing an unlicensed firearm, without doing anything with it, is supposed to get you 5 years.

Mick 13-09-2008 07:37

Re: Just heard on news

Does anyone know how the lad is today and has the 2 people held by the police been charged with anything yet ??
I have not seen anything on the TV and don't listen to the radio
