I think a visit is required. :D

Has it had a complete revamp, or a lick of paint & a new dartboard?

The 'Vic is a Thwaites tied house, if I remember rightly, so I'm hoping they have Wainwright's ale on the pumps. I sampled it at the Clog & Billycock, in Billinge, a couple of weeks ago; highly recommended.

Next time Mr T is up from Big-City-Bright-Lights, I'll atempt to drag him up the hill to Bash, for a few libations.

Is there a smoking area?:smokin:

Re: vic reopened!

They have a smoking area out back but I cant tell you how good it is as we don't smoke.

Sparky, they have recarpeted, re-upholstered the seating and chairs, re-painted the woodwork and papered the walls and ceiling, the loos have been replaced and retiled.

LOL .. thought you meant the Vic at Clayton before I opened the thread ... 'course you would have been too young to remember that.

Thought it was OK before actually ... there again only saw it in artificial light, not daylight.

Not interested in the ale though. Bacardi is Bacardi no matter what pub you are in ... :D

There are various ways of dispensing beer. What you see on the bar may bare no resemblance to what the line is connected to in the cellar.
Some years ago the art of pulling keg beer through a hand pump was developed.
The only way to tell is to inspect the cellar to see If it is cask conditioned by the Landlord/Cellar man.
I fear you may be disappointed.
I hope I am wrong but I used to invite people to inspect my cellar.:jimbo::jimbo:

yea I thought the same Kate, is the building still there or demolished, My auntie Mary was a cleaner there in the 50s , I used to go with her in the mornings sometimes, I can still smell the stale beer & fags with the musty odour of the old place.
