Bomb Scare - Blackburn

A Lancashire college has been evacuated following a bomb scare.
Staff and students at Blackburn College were ordered to leave the site after a "suspicious package" was found at around 1.30pm on Tuesday.

A Lancashire Police spokesman said: "It's just a precautionary measure at the moment.

"Police are on the scene and are hoping to resolve the situation with a minimal amount of disruption."

She said police are still investigating the contents of the mystery package.

It's probably a lager six-pack that Jambutty left behind.

I've just driven through Blackburn Town and it's horrendous. Traffic is piled up, several roads aroundthe college are shut, and motorists don't know where they are going. No diversions are set up at all

- well - from the horses mouth so to speak - I study in the elihe building ( the old BT building) and we were asked to leave and the fire alarm went off so off we all trundled down the 5 flights of stairs and assembled outside - the police were the first to turn up so we knew it wasnt a fire then we were moved further and further back. So it became more obvious that it was a bomb scare. Then all of the college buidings and waves i think were evacuated
There was a package on the stairwell( so we had probably all boody walked past it- nice)
along with two mobile phones
it happened at 1:30
the bomb squad turned up at about 4:15 :O
just a bummer having to wait around but nothing dead exciting lol

I would rather somebody over react in this kind of situation - it is people like you that judge without knowing the full story that **** me off

I think this proves that the powers that be consider Blackburn a high risk target

Re: Bomb Scare - Blackburn

Maybe they didn't have time to set up diversions but it must have been chaotic. It's bad enough round there at the best of times.

Far better that they should err on the side of caution than ignore it and people get hurt or killed.
