Prescott- The Class System

Anybody wayching this ? One of the young lasses has just described the North as 'trampy'. Bit rich coming from somebody who can't get a job and was expelled from school for fighting with teachers.

Really enjoyed it, funny and moving at the same time.

I did see a clip, advertising the programme.

I saw Pauline Prescot, about to discuss her lavatory pelmet, but managed to quickly change channels, realising the programme wasn't for me.

I started watching but got irritated by the garish decor of the house he lives in and his wife's overdone mascara - switched to News24

I watched most of it-and really enjoyed it.some of it irritated me-mostly the 'landon' girls that really knew absolutely nothing-except how to straighten their hair of course.
But at least they were not fake around Prescott (probably because they didn't know who he was though).
I didn't get to watch it all cos it had been a long day and my bed was calling me :(

Who puts a pelmet round their loo?

It sounds most unhygienic......dirty beggars.

Re: Prescott- The Class System

I was amused by what Janet Street Porter said today in The Independant-

Prezza's show is hardly a class act

John Prescott is a dinosaur who doesn't know what a chav is and rarely reads books , and sending him to investigate the class system resulted in pointless television. It yielded no real insights other than Pauline's love of velvet curtains with fancy pelmets.

Taste, rather than bloodlines, denote social standing these days – and the interior decor at Prescott towers was circa 1958, with chintzy sofas, patterned carpets and lavish drapery. A discussion about class could have debated the impact of the financial crisis, but instead our former deputy PM lumbered around like a polar bear looking for an iceberg. Even more depressing, Prezza admitted that he's not at ease with half of the electorate – the middle classes.

I dont always agree with the woman but here - yes:D

I have to say I'm not a fan either, but I think she has a point here Margaret

Should we pick on people who have different likes and dislikes to us?

My Grandma had a knitted dolly on top of her spare toilet roll too. :D

I won it when I was about 8 years old at a church function she took me to and she bought it off me for 50p.:)

I find them very funny! Were they supposed to be a disguise? Did our Grandmas think that if they stuck a dolly on top of the loo roll nobody would be able to tell what it was? :D

P.S.....I wonder if that picture was Garinda's bathroom?:D

Mine's wearing a white plastic wedding dress, and is easy to wipe clean, if Miss Dolly Long-Drop happens to get splashed.:D

Actually, I'm wishing now that I'd got it when she died but one of my cousins laid claim to it before I did - it's so kitsch it's cool!

Why don't you knit another one Gayle?

In fact, knit a few and I'll buy one off you for 50p. :D
