Health And Safety Madness

Just how far are they going to take this H&S lark? My daughter has just been telling me that when she bought her poppy the lady selling them said she wasn't allowed to pin it on for her in case she caught her with the pin. The world has gone completely barmy:mad:

It seems strange that in Accrington there's a dungeon, where apparently you can go and get your botty whipped, all quite legally, yet you can't have a poppy pinned to your coat.

First Aiders have not been able to give out pills for years and rightly so.

I think the rule is there to protect males more than females. Sticking a pinned object on a females chest can result in a hard slap :D

We were told by the HSE that the step into our premises must be painted red with a yellow edging... the day after this was completed, somebody fell down the step, he wasnt injured, but oh the irony!

I thought the edges had to be black and yellow diagonal stripes.

He should sue, and send me a cut.:D

I thought that too Garinda, but they just said to paint the top and front edges yellow, with the main step red! It was red before anyway. The point about suing is, that had he been injured, and sued, we would probably have been liable, and the HSE would investigate something which they instigated, bet they wouldnt pay the bill though!

its not the health and safety thats gone mad, its the people.....obviously someone has complained about something and would sue over it for it to become an issue..

Could well be right Em, Catherine said she wouldn't tell if the caught her with the pin so they pinned hers. Come on though who would sue over something so trivial?

Must be someone out in a crop top.:D

In this weather, dont think the pin would go through my coat, jumper and thermals! :)

its shocking that people would sue a charity!

cherokee 06-11-2008 18:55

Re: Health And Safety Madness

Some people would sue for the slightest of things if it meant getting a few bob. Disgraceful IMO

You can't just end it there!

Our cub scout leader at the conker competition in Accy three weeks or so ago said he wonders if the kids should be wearing safety goggles. I told him that if he even suggested it, I'd resign as his assistant. People need to get injured so they instinctively know the boundaries of what's safe, instead of having to be told all the time.

We had a thread on it in 2007 when it opened but I can't put the link on because it was in over 18s. ;)

The woman was called Mistress Pain. :)

You can post a link because only those in over 18's will be able to open the link anyway.

Mistress Pain, its bad enough getting GBH of the inner ear from a woman let alone letting her beat you with a stick:D

I have a poppy on now, but it isnt pinned on, it has a sticky tab at the back. Brilliantly ingenious xxx
