electricity cards
 
Help! my elderly neighbour is in darkness. she uses an electric meter card. we think there is possibly no money on it, but we dont know.
can anybody help?
if it has no money on it, anyone know where we can go and put some on for her?

help!

as long as its a card she can top up at most petrol stations and corner shops that do phone top ups (cant think what its called)

It never ceases to amaze me that some pensioners make themselves vulnerable by having such meters - even if you ignore the extra cost it makes on fuel bills.

Their relatives must not care much to allow their relative to use such a system.
The elderly are advised to stay in when the temperature drops, so why have the need to go out to a paypoint?

Should have emergency credit - Put the card in and press emergency

you dont put the card in to get emergency on electric but you do on gas.... did you get it sorted atarah?

I just got my heating allowance with my pension yesterday so I’m willing to donate a tenner to charge her card. Just give me an address to go to and I’ll be on my way.

On the rare occasions I use emergency you do, so maybe it depends on supplier?

It's the type of card meter you have. If the cards are pale yellow with a silver stripe, you use the emergency credit button. If the card is like a credit card, you put the card in and it will then allow emergency credit. The most modern ones are a type of folding key which is put in and that then allows you to use emergency credit.
