Wish You'd Never Gone
Ever been invited to some social event & regretted taking up the invite?
Maybe turned up in fancy dress to a black tie do.Your ex was the stripper on a stag do?Humiliated at a drag show? I only ask because i remember when the wife worked in a local pub she took up an invite from the resident DJ to go to his 21st.So we got dressed up to go,me with short hair, nice suit & Fred Perry. It was only when we arrived that we discovered the place full of bikers:eek:Several taunts & a couple of skirmishes later we had to hot foot it out of the place, hiding in bushes till a taxi pulled up:D |

yep got an invite to a wedding, got to the reception directed to seats at the front of the hall, only to find there were two Stevenson families but only one setting that was occupied by the other stevensons cause someone thought they had been a mistake we stood for what seemed an eternity only told there were no more seats, everybody looking at us thinking we had crashed to party for a bit of free scram,a few dirty looks later and wagging fingers,so i wagged my fingers back in a rabbit style kissed the bride and did one.:do-one:

Re: Wish You'd Never Gone
Never had any regrets, but have loads of cringe worthy nights out...if I was the sort of person who gave a damn, and was capable of cringing.
Telling Kylie she was like a little doll, and pushing her so hard she nearly fell off the sofa. Waving to the paps as I arrived at an after show party, who were really shouting for Martine McCutcheon. Though 'Martine, over here' in a cock-er-ney accent does sound a little like my name. Having to share a car with Naomi Campbell after a show at the Dome, when she marched to the front of the queue, and a bit of a tussle ensued, as various members of the fashion press tried to stop us. Though it wasn't always connected with my former life as a fashion ho. Once went into a really rough boozer in South London with three Sloanes, real ones, titled, cut glass Hooray accents the lot, and we won their weekly pub quiz, which hadn't been won for months. We were lucky to get out of there alive with all the dosh, and isn't somewhere we ever went back to.:D |

Re: Wish You'd Never Gone
About 1969, we went to a "do" with Whitby Operatic Society (of which I was a member) at the rather posh Whitby Yacht Club. I was wearing a very sophisticated purple evening gown and my late husband was in the required black tie.
As we went in, I followed Colin towards the bar - and completely failed to notice that there was a step right across the room. I went down, full length, with a hell of a bang and just thanked God it was all carpeted and also we were early so not too many witnesses. I spent the rest of the evening with a huge fat lip, as I'd landed on my face, and it rather took the shine off things. :D |
