Sleep?

It really is my favourite hobby ... I think I'm sleep addicted to be honest ... I suppose I could pretend I had some sleep related disorder but I don't ... I'm just a lazy cow :D

They say you need 8 hours sleep, pah can't function unless I've had between 10 - 12 hours

How much sleep do you guys need? ... and hurry up answering before I nod off again :closeey:

Have you been in it for a few weeks? Not seen you around for a while.

I get anything between 3 and 9 hours sleep a night depending what I am working.

I don't function very well off 3 hours sleep though :(

Re: Sleep?

Several months ago I really thought I had narcolepsy because I needed to sleep 2 hours in every 4.
I was relieved when I found that it wasn't.
I now sleep 8 or 9 hours a day, and 2 of them are a daytime nap.
Too much sleep is less time living, and may be a symptom of some illness (mine was)

Re: Sleep?

As little as possible - in the winter I probably get about 7hrs, in the summer much, much less.

I often don't sleep all the way through the night and spend most of the time 'resting' rather than sleeping - i.e. brains working but body resting.

Re: Sleep?

I need no more than 7 hours but can function fine off 3-4 for a few days. I also don't mind disjointed sleep too much.

e.g. saturady gone I worked 5:30am - 11ish, went to bed, up at 2 for 20 mins for another job, back to bed, up at 4 for another 20 mins, up at 6:30, workinga t 7 - 10ish then a normal day. Last night, in from Pool at ~11, stayed up till 11:45ish, alarm went off at 5:20, out of bed by about 5:45.

oncall at work can be very disjointed and sometimes even 36 hours without any real sleep.

Re: Sleep?

Sleep is a nightmare for me.:D

A combination of the drugs I take, and Parkinson's itself, means I sometimes don't sleep at all for up to 72 hours.

The best thing about it though is that when I do sleep I have amazingly real dreams.

Even the dream I had about myself and Lily, an Accy Webber I've never met, was exciting, because the shoe designing business we had in Italy meant we were flying to trade shows all over the world, including South Africa, and South America.

I'll stop rambling now, incase I send anyone to sleep.:D

Re: Sleep?

I have trouble sleeping because I have no set routine for anything. I suppose I sleep about 4 - 5 hours a night, and perhaps spend two hours a day in limbo. Neither thinking or sleeping.
I really should get myself sorted. I have been the same for years. Even when I was working I used to only sleep for about 6 hours a night and always wanted more.

Have you got children? If so, how did you cope when they were babies and awake half the night?

I usually manage fine with about 6 hours.

Re: Sleep?

I find sleep to be a changing state of affairs, some weeks I seem to need as much as 15 hours on occasion this seems to coincide with periods of minimum activity.
However if I have some form of project in mind, (I was going to say in hand but the innuendos would have been rife!), I find I can go with very little sleep in fact at such times a couple of hours just resting as Gayle said will be sufficient.

Before you ask no! It's the latest style of water bed very relaxing.

Function best on 7 hours but have been known to get by on less !
When child was younger she was a terrible sleeper and think i managed on about 3 or 4 hours a night for 3 years!

Re: Sleep?

The only part of your body that needs sleep is your brain. The remaining parts of your body just needs rest to recover.
