I find this totally hilarious...

Quote:

BNP members have told BBC News they have received threatening and abusive phone calls and e-mails after a leaked document was published online.

The membership list includes police officers, who are banned from BNP membership, teachers and soldiers.

It includes names, addresses, telephone numbers and jobs of 12,000 people.

It has been removed from the blog it was published on after protests by BNP leaders but members say they are still receiving threatening messages.
after years of harassing non-whites - for once the boot is on the other foot.

I think that you are missing the point with this issue.

The real issue is should the names, addresses, phone numbers and jobs of members of an organisation be published as a membership list on someone’s blog?

Whether it is the BNP or Tory party or any other political party it is still wrong.

A person’s political affiliation is private until that person chooses to reveal it to the world.

Hyndburn in general is the most racist place I have come accross.. quite a shock when i moved here.. however the good things about the area far outnumber the backward racist attitudes of a LOT of people..

I've got a copy... pretty easy to find really

Inevitably, the BNP members' list is on a mashup. Just beware of taking it seriously | Technology | guardian.co.uk

First link in that article takes you to an interesting BNP "heat map" and some relevant documents on the page.

what do you think should happen to the police officers on the list? surely a disciplinary at least?

KP - if i'm honest i've been to more racist places. but yeah there's alot of racism in and about - if not overt, its still there.

I think a law was passed in 2004 that made it illegal for police officers to join the BNP. How the legal situation around them using leaked evidence of supposedly secret political party membership works though, I don't know.

In that case it wouldnt effect officers who are already a member.

I dont have any time for racism. But I do believe everyone has a choice.. thats what life is about. the officer should be allowed his choice just like anyone else... Other officers made other choices... Do they still stop gays from joining?

So long as he does his job properly then it doesnt matter IMHO

the problem i have with that K-P is that on that basis anyone should be allowed to join the Taliban,or Hamas, or any body of murdering cut-throats.

I've just had a look at the listing. Typical BNP. It is in alphabetial order by surname - beginnng with Y and ending with A.

Do the BNP murder people now?

its freedom of choice that shoudlnt be taken away because of what job you do... if your in trouble.. mortal danger and a policeman comes to your rescue.. will you care what he is a member of?

the debate isnt about the bnp or racism.. its about freedom of choice based on the job your doing.. if something is illegal to join for everyone then thats that... this isn't that...

It's a tricky one really, is the BNP illegal? It may not be very popular with right thinking people of any race, as with other extreme organisations, but if it's not illegal should the Police be barred from joining?

So long as their point of view does not alter their so called, 'fairness' in carrying out their duty.

If however any of us are seen to be racist we are all open to prosecution, surely a Policeman that allows his personal point of view to override his duty would be dropped on like a ton of bricks?

How far does dis-allowing people go? An Ambulance driver could be a member, but surely he would not leave any member of the public to bleed to death just because of their race or religion, I'm sure the same applies to the Police.

Thats very interesting mani, although I only recognise one person on the local list, but I suppose its a matter of whatever floats your boat. They actually targeted me around 1 years ago. they sent me some of the clap trap through the post, the only thing was it was in an envelope paid for by an African charity, can't remember which one though now. I was so incensed I contacted Greg Pope, and we did a joint article for the Observer condemning them and their racist literature.

Just ask me for directions I'll see if I can help.:D

So far as Lord of the rings don't worry too much there were a lot of made up words that didn't really mean anything, If anything it seemed to be a story of all sorts of races, (Humans, Elves, Fairies and so on getting together to fight evil so keep trying to understand it, it might turn out to be something we all have in common).

There is an irony to all this, especially as the information seems to have been made public by some disgruntled member high up in the organisation, because for years the N.F./B.N.P. have published the names, addresses, and photographs of those who they see as their opponents.

the list thats been outed has already been scrutinised by the media etc - its not as if 5 people have it - so any changes wouldnt appear on the others.

it was apparently released to harm the leadership of nick griffin more than anything. the person who allegedly released it did it so bnp supporters would turn against griffin rather than unveil the world the bnp's

Of course on the other hand it could have been a dastardly plot by the secret service to discredit what the establishment sees as a dangerous political party.

Seems there are a few vicars on there. Trainee vicar on the Radio today, explained that Jesus was not white so she concluded that they are not honouring their profession.

Also was a lady barrister who thought that the barristers on this list would not defend any Afro-Caribbean clients in the correct way, and persuade them to plead guilty.

Made me laugh when she was asked what she would think if there was a Lollipop lady amongst the listed, but she adamant would not effect their job ?

its common knowledge on alot of the right-wing sites that one of the general secretary's or something quit around the time this list was accurate.

sometimes believing that people did this out of spite just isnt enough so they feel they wanna give credit to something else.

even nick griffin has said somethign along those lines that they have a pretty good idea who did it and they did it to discredit him and his leadership

Do you agree with it being published on the web? And if you do would you like your name and address made available to everybody for being a member of the Conservative party? Seems wrong to me that it is fair play for one parties members names and addresses to be made public. Could lead to all sorts of things happening.

that last statement is oh so true, whilst the BNP may be legit, the party contains many thugs n people who DO resort to violence, i myself knew quite a few of the Combat 18, n Intercity Firm guys who were members way back, n they certainly were not political orators, n like mancie states people who honestly think any different, are naive too say the least. this organisation should be banned.

Nope I don't agree with it being published. A disagreement of views should not give legitimacy to publishing of names/addresses. There are many safety implications associated with this too, not just the question of was it 'right or wrong'.

From the B.N.P. website...

'The Internet may be the last bastion of free speech, so make the most it whilst you can. I am sure that in the near future, the government will pull out all the stops to ban us from Cyber-space too!'

Interestingly the website is still listing the names and locations of it's opponents in other parties who have been convicted of criminal offences.

Though strangely I can't see listed the names of any B.N.P. members convicted of similar crimes, including leader Nick Griffin's conviction in 1998 for inciting racial hatred.

Strange that.
